Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I don't understand what dictates my "final mile" carrier for VMP. This is the second month in a row I have two shipments a day or two apart, both start with DHL but one is coming by Intelcom while the other is coming from UniUni... when I let my sub lapse TForce was doing the "final mile" and when I first joined Canada Post was handling it. Everything to do with VMP's logistics makes my brain hurt.

Wait, y’all have a gig parcel service? Holy fuck does that seem like a bad idea.

Pretty much all the couriers in Britain are. They try to weasel out of creating the employer/employee relationship by claiming their drivers are self employed contractors who can pick and choose their hours. In reality the minimum hour expectations and delivery quotas are almost unworkable, they do effectively create that relationship with the demands placed on the drivers and the whole thing only exists so they can pay them way less than they could legally and get out of the employees obligation to make employers NI and national pension contributions.

Ours do always get passed from DHL to An Post for any company that uses that DHL budget international postage. Ireland probably is too small for the shitty exploitative couriers to fully move into.

Who chooses the final mile carrier? I’ve never understood this myself. I sometimes have UPS packages that get handed off the USPS for final delivery or other times UPS delivers themselves and there’s no rhyme or reason to it

Smart post would be ups to or FedEx to USPS. I have found that when the initial carrier is delayed that they will skip the hand off.

The sender does in those instances.

Not sure about DHL or these overseas dudes in their ford escorts.

I didn’t think it was that unclear, unless @Selaws is an oddly sentient corporate body…

I think the answer is Yodel. I had a ‘delivery’ driver who every parcel disappeared with. Since they have changed to Royal Mail every parcel has arrived. You need to contact VMP CS and ask to stop getting from Yodel. They (Yodel that is) are a corrupt shit show with zero customer care, and most companies are now getting wise to them.
I think this is the same issue as me, but it seems to be Hermes that I'm having the issue with. I have asked VMP to use a different service before but their response seems to be that they just send another replacement package and hope it gets picked up by Royal Mail (who I never have issues with).

As an FYI, the people at the address they keep sending them to typically refuse delivery, so they get returned to sender. This happened with my first copy of Oliver Nelson and as of today has also happened to my copy of Kamasi Washington.

Its infuriating.
