Oh man a riot would start if you all saw my collection. Here we go....
Sorted by genre. Kind of.
Blue Note, Impulse!, Steeplechase organised by catalogue number. Then 2 cubes of small sets that I bought as collections (I remember which was in each). Then A-Z my jazz musician (first name). Then British jazz in its own section, split in the middle by box sets (not British jazz, just mixed - no reason other than I wanted them at the bottom of my shelf). Then groupings of releases by series (ie, Tone Poets, each jazz set that VMP released, etc). The Superfly reissue series in catalogue order comes next, obviously. Contemporary/modern jazz next (A-Z).
At that point I reach 'everything else' all in A-Z order by first name.....until 3 cubes of VMP releases makes an appearance (ROTM, Essentials, Classics - note, not R&HH). Finally, I have wine crates of the Black Jazz series, J-Jazz (sorted by label), then 3 of Rap (including the VMP R&HH series in order). A final crate of records to sell finishes it off. Oh, and a crate of 7" (no order), and 10" (no order).
But it makes sense, ya know?
