Did Warner go out of business while I wasn’t paying attention?I don’t remember that, but print-to demand was Run Out Grooves whole business model

I think it was a bit of a sham. I am pretty sure they had picked each months title and just used the voting to gauge interest in other records.Especially as it was a front to sell Warner releases direct to customer. It did take a weird turn from Curtis Mayfield to super heavy metal…
They did make some killer pressings though!I think it was a bit of a sham. I am pretty sure they had picked each months title and just used the voting to gauge interest in other records.
Not all that tin foily tbh. Makes sense with pressed to order. Does seem strange that they kept all this scratch and dent stuff for years and years with no idea what to do with it all. People have been saying for years that they should do scratch and dent sales.my tinfoil hat take is that they're trying to consolidate the amount of warehouse space they pay for in order to cut costs there(because having a ton of funds tied up in warehouse space can be considerable). all the scratch and dent sales, sales, print on demands - these all lower the amount of overhead stock they have and can free up considerable space in a warehouse that could save them some cash at a time when they are probably looking to trim fat.
One of the warehouses I ran once had an entire section of electrical fuses they stopped making in the 60s. Warehouses are full of shit that no one has any idea what to do with and no one wants to get rid of without explicit orders to do so.Not all that tin foily tbh. Makes sense with pressed to order. My friend is an electrician and has about 150 home electrical panels in storage. They were very popular in the 80s and 90s with builders but stopped manufacturing them in the early 2000. Now those original panels are failing, so he is able to repair them in many cases, saving people (me) quite a bit of cash. The day you throw it away you receive a purchase order for the useless stuff you had on shelves for years.
trying to get my son's british passport was an absolute shitshow. they kept telling us that some of the paperwork we sent was a copy and not official even though we got it sent STRAIGHT FROM GOVERNMENT OFFICES ha. Took about 4 months of back and forth. Worth it for his ridiculous passport picture though. My mother in law said he looks like a young Churchill. I think he looks like a boy cosplaying as a "British Boy"Try working in a government department and dealing with arcane paperwork that no one ever needed or ever will need and trying to deal with getting rid of that within your statutory framework…
The staff was somewhat helpful on the phone but they could only do so much as the examiner made really generic notes about why things were rejected.Hahaha! You’re getting him a British passport when I’m helping all my family get Irish ones so that they’re not stuck relying on a non EU one with potential visas in a post brexit world!
First time passports are pretty prescriptive, for pretty solid reasons, and it can feel ridiculous when you’re in it but I’ve always found the staff in both in the British and in the Irish passport services to be really helpful on the phone.
I’m talking about say you have a niche application type in a smaller statute that isn’t implicitly created by your governing act so you have no specific statutory rejection or abandonment powers and over 40 years you build up quite the backlogs of applications that’s went nowhere and no one is willing to make a legal call on what to do with them without legislation that’s never going to come to parliament for something so minor…
