Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Joe Rogan (yes I know some people don't like him) interviewed a professor from UMN about this and he said they will have a vaccine but it will take a few years. It was a good interview if you want to spend an hour or so listening.

case in point. with jackasses like this we're all doomed:

A passenger on a JetBlue flight from JFK Airport has tested positive for the coronavirus after landing in Palm Beach, Florida, according to reports.

Flight 253, with 114 passengers and crew aboard, landed at Palm Beach International Airport shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday but remained on the tarmac for about three hours, according to WPTV.

One of the passengers told the station that a man near him was taken to the back of the aircraft.

“He was wearing masks and gloves. His wife was sitting in the same row as me and mentioned to others that he wasn’t feeling well,” Scott Rodman said.

She said he had gotten a phone call with his test results right before we had taken off, implying that he had a positive test but not actually saying it,” he added.
justice has been served!!

JetBlue passenger who flew while infected with coronavirus has been banned for life

I've heard multiple doctors confidently say that they will have a vaccine, I don't think they're bullshitting, I believe them.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's imperfect like the flu shot, but if it's effective at all it's a huge step towards managing the situation.
sorry, I quoted the wrong post. I meant to quote @botherly

I heard that interview, but I actually heard radio shows and interviews with other doctors who said that it could be closer to a year... I hope it's not years with an S.

Carriers suspend internet data caps during coronavirus

Typically, low-income customers apply for Comcast's "Internet Essentials" program, and those who meet the qualifications get 15 Mbps internet for $9.95 a month. Now, Comcast says applicants who qualify will get a 25 Mbps connection for free for two months.

WHAT. I thought up until now people talking about "x is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse" was in jest but out of all of this, telecom companies being nice might be one of the most inconcievable. D'accord, it's more data data data for them, after all what would they like more than for people to be even more dependent on them, so it's probably not without alterior motives.

Word came through tonight.

The district I teach in has been GRANTED a 17-day waiver from the state, meaning we will not have to make up the days in June. This is quite a relief for everyone here.

On an unrelated note...
Last night I went to two liquor stores for provisions... am I the only one surprised that there was a rush on non-alcoholic beers? It was very hard to find the ones I like!
[Ended up with several six packs of Athletic Brewing Company and Heineken 0.0, but still... never ever had to work for it.]

My wife went to the Walmart out here. People were buying 10 bottles of shampoo and deodorant. Also unhealthy food was sold out. Why are people so irrational.

My hair doesn’t get this luscious and shiny on its own I’ll have you know, it takes work and I am not risking being smelly for anyone....

LIMITING SEAT CAPACITY IN EVERY AMC AUDITORIUM
• To give you more empty space around you within our theatres, we are capping ticket availability to 50% of the normal seating capacity for every showtime in every auditorium at all AMC theatres nationwide. Once we hit 50% of an auditorium’s capacity, movie screenings will show as being Sold Out, even though by definition there will be a large number of unfilled seats. This will begin Saturday, March 14, and for now, will continue until April 30.

• For those AMC auditoriums with more than 500 seats, we will further reduce bookings to a maximum of 250 people in any case.
