I know back then the logical choice was to keep Murray because of the Cup runs but Fleury was still a big part of those runs. And not many people talked about it, but I think part of Murray’s success was having Fleury to mentor him. Look what happened after he left. I never was comfortable with Murray being the new golden boy. Small sample size and he gave me more of a Cam Ward feel. Plus dude is always hurt. I never thought getting rid of the franchise’s best goalie was the smart choice.
