And who might that be? 🤔

I’m curious about making Jarry available. Either to trade or for the ED and Hextall/Burke bringing in their guy.
It’s interesting. They were pretty public about trying to get Fleury back. But if they put Jarry on the block (which I’m not opposed to, necessarily) who’s out there to replace him?

They don’t really get any bonus for not protecting a goalie so doesn’t seem like an advantage there unless they really feel like they’d take a loss on a trade.

I think it depends on if management thinks the team can still win one more Cup with a couple of tweaks. I read somewhere that management had expectations of them getting to the conference finals this season but goaltending did them in. The Carter trade worked out great but I hope that Hextall doesn’t decide to go back to the well and try and snag Quick. I think he’s toasty. And I want no part of that Freddie guy from Toronto. I know it’s a long shot but I’d like to see them go after Gibson. The Ducks aren’t going to be a contender anytime soon and he does have Pittsburgh roots.

My take for the Habs off-season:

Unless they trade a D before the expansion, I think Montreal goes the 8 player route to protect the top 4 defense along with KK, Toffoli, Anderson and Gallagher plus Price. Suzuki, Caufield and Romanov are exempt.

That leaves Byron, Drouin, Evans, Lekhonen (assuming a qualifying offer), Kulak and Allen as signed eligible players for the Kraken.

Danault, Armia and Perry are unsigned but I think will be targets to keep after the draft.

Tatar, Staal, Merrill, Gustafsson should be gone.

And I want them to be aggressive to target a top-4 puck moving D so Weber's time can be managed a lot more and they need some offense on left wing.

EDIT: I also wonder what happens with Drouin. Does he try a comeback? Would it be best elsewhere? Hope he overcomes things. Makes you think twice about criticizing your own so savagely though.

Hopefully the Habs don’t turn out like the 2016 Sharks and are back in contention soon.

Yes John Gibson is a Pittsburgh native and would be a good fit on that Pens squad👍but I don't think Anaheim would be a good dance partner given the direction they're going in.

You know, it's hard to assess much from this season because the teams all played a very limited amount of opponents and not necessarily those in their normal divisions. You end up getting into a rock-paper-scissors situation in some divisions (like in the North where Montreal would have a hard time against Ottawa and Calgary but did ok to great against Vancouver and Edmonton). Plus I think Calgary and Ottawa were better than their point total suggests if they would have had a chance at different opponents. And then you have other divisions where some teams got a lot of points because there were a few very bad teams to beat up on (I think this is why Colorado and VGK finished so high). Add to that COVID pauses and injuries because of condensed schedules and some teams could end up making big mistakes reading into their season (either way).

That’s exactly why I didn’t trust all the “experts” picking Colorado or VGK as the favorite to win it all. Everyone one was piling on the North as being the worst division but I thought the West was. It was clear that both of those teams struggled against a good defensive system. Considering the West division this coming season, VGK will probably look inflated again.

While the Cokecherov presser was funny, I think there’s a better route to take to show more personality. I mean for the most part, hockey interviews are pretty boring within the game but what he introduced last night was more disrespect than personality.

I would also like to add that thanks to Mark Stone, the 31 general managers, Brian Boucher and Cokecherov, I’m totally confused who really is the best goalie.

I mean, all he had to do was not take shots at the opponents and their fans. Everything else, whatever.

You know what's even more impressive, okay maybe impressive isn't the right word but the fact that he was drunk 🥴 that quickly. We are talking 42 minutes after the on-ice celebration 🍾 How many beers 🍺 did he chug in that timespan? 😳

I doubt he was drunk. And the league or the team can’t do better than Bud Light? These dudes just won the Cup! Let’s get them cases of a Double IPA in there with a minimum 10% ABV. I know there has to be a few local breweries in Tampa.
