NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

The Calgary Flames are finalizing a seven-year deal with unrestricted free agent Nazem Kadri, reports TSN's Darren Dreger.

Kadri was the top player remaining on the open market after posting 87 points in 71 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche and playing a significant role in helping the club capture the Stanley Cup.

More to come.

I guess the habs will also have to clear cap space? I'm not sure where we sit honestly.

I'm actually somewhat excited for the season. We'll likely still be near the bottom, but with MSL making the game funner to watch and all the new and developing (and potentially exciting) kids in the mix, it may be entertaining. I *think* the rebuilding decisions have been pretty solid so far.

Seriously, something is missing if this Monahan move is to happen. Either there's a 3-way trade in the works and Monahan is just passing through, Montreal is moving someone else (Dvorak, Byron, Hoffman, Drouin... anyone that will shed salary to make room - plus Montreal would now have too many centers LOL), or they know Price is done.

And for starters, Montreal would probably get something else from Calgary along with Monahan to take on the salary, like a good pick or a prospect.

Due to the Pens yawner of an off-season, I’m a little on the Thumbs’ page. But that said it might be a good year to kick back and enjoy the whole season and watch the best games each week.

Oh god I just Rob Lowe’d myself with an NHL hat.

So Montreal gets a conditional 1st along with Monahan, so this makes more sense. Will eventually need to move salary but it seems like Monahan may start the season on LTIR?

Uh-oh. It seems like it's option #3. :(

Not surprised, but I was rooting for him.
