The fact that he's going back to Vegas after two failed stints in Pittsburgh and New York. He's not a bad player but I think he's a bit overrated.

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Dallas Stars have agreed to terms on a trade that would send Mikko Rantanen to Dallas, pending a contract extension.

As much as I want the Leafs to do something....ANYTHING there was a rumor that the Leafs wanted to deal Knies in a Rantanen trade and Knies has a ton of star potential so I'm glad they didn't pull the trigger on that one.

I do not think there are many good deals to be had today. Prices are astronomical for players that barely move the needle if they do at all.

After Nelson, there is really no third-line centre fit. I'm hoping the Leafs are considering a package for Luke Schenn and Rickard Rakell or something.

Obviously not but Knies is already the Leafs' top LW, is much younger, will cost much less on his next deal, and still has room to grow. He's not a prospect who may or may not bloom into a real NHLer, he's already a real contributor.

Yeah, TSN is saying that $12M for Rantanen is well short which is why there's no deal as of yet.
The LAST thing the Leafs need is another player making more than $11M.
