New Music Friday!

Did we know about these?

Kamasi Washington - Lazarus Soundtrack

Bonobo - Lazarus Soundtrack

Floating Points - Lazarus Soundtrack

All worth checking out.

I was listening to the Floating Points - it goes hard! I also love Kamasi Washington and Bonobo so will check those out too. (I'm also excited to check out the show too - it's from the creator of Cowboy Bebop).

It's downright awful! I listened 🎧 to the whole thing and laughed with my partner the whole way through 😂 I mean the opening track "Boombox" as some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard "Boombox, Baby, boom, boom 💥
My baby had a boombox back in 1983
And if I asked her nicely she would loan her box to me
She would take her boombox everywhere, she could not put it down
And when she pushed its buttons, it produced a funky sound
She had a boombox, baby, boom, boom"
🤣🤣🤣
Yo, that's pure poetry right there :ROFLMAO:

New Bootsy Collins had a lot more fire than I expected. In fact, if he cut all but maybe one of the slow jams it would be a damn fine album. Sadly, their presence bogs down the bloated release we find here—while there is plenty of well-played early 90s g-funk homage, the "run the full length of a CD" 75-80 minute albums are, in most cases, best left to die there. The party heavy front half cut directly into the exciting left turns of the final two songs would make for a much better album.

CAVEAT: If you don't like vintage funk of the P and G (but not PG) varieties, this album ain't gonna change your mind; but if you dig those things, you'll probably dig this more than you might expect.
