Movies

Everyone should see this in the theater if they get the chance. It's a truly incredible moviegoing experience.

Agreed. I'm waffling between a 4 and a 4.5 so I didn't like it quite as much as you. Coogler can't resist making things a little too on the nose for my taste (a pattern).

That said, it is a dazzling audio, visual experience with several scenes that will go down as all-timers and one of the best scores ever laid to film.

Completely ballsy filmmaking.

So apparently Bringing Out the Dead finally got a Blu-ray release last September and not only did I not see anything about it, but it was only available packaged as part of a limited edition 4K release that is now sold out. Awesome.

BOTD and Shadow of the Vampire are two of my favorite movies that have never made the jump from DVD (until now at least) that I've always secretly hoped would eventually get picked up by Criterion for a re-release at some point, but it seems like Paramount has put a damper on that with this release. Real shame because it's one of Scorsese's most criminally underrated films and really deserves to be more seen. Hopefully they plan on putting out a wider release version further down the line?

*caresses my copy*

I suspect it (BOTD) will get a standard 4K release later this year. It was part of a series called "Paramount Presents" which are limited. Chinatown and Once Upon A Time In The West, among others, also sold out and already got a standard release.
