Klipsch Speakers Thread

Hooo nelly the Fortes are breaking in... I might not even bother with my sub. It can go deeper but... this is pretty damn good already.
You got me rethinking my lust for the Cornwall IV.

I need to go and check out both in person again. I did many years ago, but I need to see/hear them again and think about what’s easier to get up to my office and be ideal for my 17’ x 17’ space.

I've never heard the Cornwall's in my space. But the Forte IVs are easily filling my room which is something like 23 x 16 feet.

I've seen several commentators say that the leap in sound quality between the Forte IV and Cornwall IV is not as big as you'd might expect. The Cornwall is more efficient with a higher sensitivity.

I'm not gunna lie, I could see the La Scalas being a end game purchase in the future at some point.
The new La Scala's actually use the smaller Forte woofer in a ported/horn hybrid to get deeper bass with horn efficiency and even less distortion (like the Jubilees do). For me, an older model would be the way I'd go because the newest ones have gotten to be too damn expensive for my tastes.

Probably glad I didn't see this listing last week.... Pretty sure those are the AL5s. And that's CAD.

I have to admit, the La Scala AL5’s in cherry have been a frequent daydream for me. It’s more the size than the cost that slows me down. They just won’t fit in my rooms, but damn… those would be fun.
Oh totally, they will not fit in any of my rooms in this house. But maybe a house or two down the road... never say never. But I gotta say, these speakers with this amp. Man, I'm not sure I can handle more than this. It's fucking INTENSE. Like my L100 Arcam system is kinda set up to reference sound. Very clean. Big stage but very tight in terms of warmth. It's accurate to a fault. The Lyngdorf and the Fortes are just massive warm sound that completely envelops you. I know it's hyperbole but I've never heard these songs sound like this, not even on my upstairs system. This is next level stuff.

Yeah, the Cornwalls objectively rock, but I think a core part of their appeal is their relative ease of positioning compared to the Forte. They’re *very* similar in character.

Awesome to hear that you’re enjoying them!

One thing I have noticed that I didn't expect from a very digital solid state amp, it seems like it needs to warm up for a bit before it's at 100%. Gunna have to remember to turn it on like an hour before I want to listen to let it warm up.
I know it’s one of those things that people either believe or they don’t, but I’ve never had an amp that doesn’t sound better after being on for 30 minutes to an hour. I don’t bother seriously listening for at least an hour.

Yeah I tend to agree. I always kinda assumed it was the stage that needed warming but I don't even have the vinyl connected yet to the new system. I would put it down to several pints one night and sober the next, but the night it warmed up I was stone cold sober, and the night I just flicked it on and listened I was about 4 pints in. And the sober warm up night was better with the same tracks, so I'm going with that. I suppose it's possible it could also come down to electrical draw within the house doing different things at different times. But that's beyond my scope. I was all excited to try plugging the amp directly into the wall instead of the crappy surge protector I've got down there currently but the fancy cable is like 1.5 feet too short. DAMMIT

I’m not surprised. It’s been that case on every amp I’ve had too. It was most pronounced on the Quad super tubey amp but it’s pretty pronounced on the Luna. That said even the old Sony improved a little after it’d been rocking out for a bit!
