Cleaning through the collection as I begin to transition the room from office to nursery. Just threw up a bunch of audiophile jazz for cheap if you're interested!
Snuck away from Graceland to visit the Stax museum. What an awesome place! Highly recommend for anyone familiar with the Stax label or American soul music in general.
Wife and I are visiting Graceland with my in-laws. FIL is a huge Elvis fanboy and we’re staying at the “Guest House” hotel. This is like an Elvis fever dream.
I do not get the fandom. I could take or leave Elvis, but this is another level of fandom. Makes me wonder what will happen to this place when boomers are gone.
The new Rolling Stone single further enhances my bewilderment with the band. It’s pretty bad.
They’re the one renowned group I could never really get or even enjoy. I’ve tried so many times! The Who are not far behind them, but at least I enjoy Quadrophenia!
We lost a very talented young musician to cancer today. James Casey was a phenomenal saxophone player, a staple in the Trey Anastasio Band for many years, and played with the likes of Bill Kreutzman, Phil Lesh, The Roots, Anderson Paak, and many more. May he rest in peace
Anyone do a significant downsize recently (I’m talking 30-50% of their collection)? Trying to assess which would be the most cost effective and efficient when there is a mix of higher end ($50+) and $15-30 stuff.
Am I the only one that wasn’t aware that if you go into your “Collection” on the Discogs app, and shake your phone, it will pick a random album for you?
His career as an influential tenor saxophonist and composer reached across more than half a century, tracking jazz’s complex evolution during that span.
Every local store near me (aside from the best one) is stocked with WalMart and Target new releases. Do they think people don't know about their sales? Why would I buy a target release from them when its cheaper online? Stuff like this always confuses me and makes me second guess their judgement as owners.
I wish I was kidding but two of the best all-around albums in my collection, sound wise, are Muppet albums: The Muppet Movie and The Muppet Christmas Carol iam8bit pressings. Seriously very quiet and sound way too good for a bunch of furry puppets.
