Wow, this new Yves Tumor record is fantastic. Never would have thought it would sound so glam rock and krautrock influenced, but it really does. And it's really awesome.
Decided to try and knock off a few vinyl purchases at the beginning of this year that I have been putting off for some time now. First one arrived in the mail yesterday: "Neon Golden" by The Notwist.
So while it has some nice jams on it, I'm not anywhere near as crazy about this new Tame Impala album as I have been with all their other albums. I feel like it needed a bit more of the bombast that they put into "It Might Be Time". The new version of "Borderline" is better though.
So, I do this thing every year where I come up with a list of my Top 50 Songs of the year and do a live stream on Twitch to count them down. I'm doing it this Sunday starting at 2 PM. If anyone is interested in listening in, I will post the link closer to the start time. Happy last day of the decade!
For anyone interested in some funk/hip hop-tinged jazz, a good friend of mine just released an awesome little six-song EP on Inner Ocean Records. Spotify streaming link is below:
Wow, this new Rapsody album absolutely fantastic. Saw her live at Sled Island this year, and this album along with her live show should take her to the upper echelon of hip hop lyricists.
First day of Sled Island was amazing, and Japanese Breakfast KILLED IT! Today, looking to catch Rapsody, Black Belt Eagle Scout, and Torres. Let's do this!
Chromatics were excellent last night! Also, I have never seen a merch booth more stocked with vinyl and CDs. Seriously, they had 9 different records from the band, Desire (who was opening), and other Italians Do It Better artists. And everything was $20. Bravo!
