Day 9 - Spin a record released in the 90’s or in a year ending in 9
Gang Starr - Full Clip: A Decade of Gang Starr
I decided to play something from 1999 but on checking I've only got 3 records from that year. This 4LP compilation might be the best, not least as I got it for free from the...
Day 8 - Album / song / artist with geographical location in title, lyric or name
Led Zeppelin - The Final Rehearsal 2007, Shepperton Studios, London
Fantastic bootleg, arguably better than Celebration Day itself. What I'd given to have been there.
Day 7 - Spin any RRHoF artist that is already inducted, or has been nominated
Aretha Franklin - The Atlantic Singles Collection 1967-1970
Had to look this one up...
Day 6 - Spin any splatter / marbled / split wax, picture disc or shaped vinyl
Chris Whitley - Din of Ecstasy
In honour of @Yer Ol' Uncle D. The last coloured disc I've had.
Day 5 - Today is 4/5 - spin a 45 or any record that is 45 rpm
Inter Jazz Band - Makore Mashanu
Back to fresh grabs, and a great little record from Zimbabwe. I must admit I bought it slightly (no listing on Discogs until me) to own something on that label (clearly where Analog Africa got some...
Day 4 – Spin any artist, album or song that repeats a letter in its name or title
I Soumaoro et l'Eclipse de l'IJA - Le Tioko - Tioko
I had actually already spun a record for today. But then Amadou Bagayogo (of Amadou & Mariam) died, so playing this in memory of him. Probably my favourite...
Gutted that Amadou (of Amadou & Mariam) has died. Was going to see them live again next month. One of my most special concert experiences was going to a gig in the dark by them to replicate their experience of being blind #RIP
Day 3 - Spin any album or artist with a three word title / name
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Don't think I can do a month of fresh grabs (at least my wallet hopes not) but here's another ticked off my want list.
Day 2 - It's International Guitar Month. Spin an album that includes a favorite guitarist(s) and if so inclined, tell us why they're a favorite.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Dume
Another fresh grab. No explanation needed, but I could die happy on hearing the guitar tone of Cortez The Killer.
Day 1 – Spin any artist’s / band’s debut record
Mudhoney
I had planned to think about this a bit but this fresh grab was on the turntable already. Loving getting reacquainted with Mudhoney, who were quite possibly my favourite from the grunge scene.
Day 31: Fare Thee Well, June 2015, Levi’s Stadium – As we bid goodbye to March and this challenge, play something that references a goodbye or farewell.
Leonard Cohen - Live in London
So Long Marianne - for a long time, I thought this album was from the Cohen concert I went to in London that...
