completed my second week of teaching field placement - if I make it through my entire teaching career without adopting a bunch of teenagers, it might be a miracle. my heart can't handle all the shitty things these kids experience. I just want to do my best to be something positive in their lives because some of them have it really freaking rough.

Fall semester starts tomorrow and I have to read the entirety of the Canterbury Tales in, like, a week and a half. Anyone have any advice on understanding old English texts? I've found reading aloud helps (words are spelled differently but the pronunciation is the same). Also looking at line by line translations followed by summaries, but idk if that's cheating or not. -
