Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

So it's been like 3 months since the Kurt Vile was teased, right? That seems like a bad sign, I think.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

This will be one of the harder sells VMP has had on the Essentials track for sure. And its hard to imagine it's the album VMP wanted to lead with the first month after cutting two potential swap tracks. Likely that their hands were tied by production schedules and such. Whatever the case, this...

Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

I forget, we have confirmed that the Kurt Vile discs are a part of the haul down at that Georgia pressing plant, right?

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Mogwai was a thought, yeah, though their stuff is indeed very available in the wild. Was thinking The Beta Band would fit nicely into this category ... even if the band just reissued their entire catalogue a couple of years ago. The Vaselines would be interesting too, though only Enter The...

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Anybody wonder if we might be focusing too much on British bands as the indie pick? UK would also include Scotland, I believe. There were some good bands kicking around there at the time as well. The question is if VMP is claiming the band formed in the early 2000s, or if the album was just...

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Was inspired to re-visit Simian's We Are Your Friends, and would be totally on board with this one if it were the VMP Rock indie pick. It also sort of feels like it fits well in VMP's "left of center" wheelhouse - even if it's a dramatically different vibe than the aforementioned Lemon of Pink.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Oh man, I haven't thought about Simian in years. That would be a wild pick for sure.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Really don't think they'd try sell Coldplay as indie, but it certainly would not be off-brand for them to go with an album like Parachutes and wax poetic about how it showcased their talent before A Rush of Blood broke them through to the mainstream.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Yeah, I would definitely be intrigued if they re-issued The Hour of Bewilderbeast.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

I don't remember where I read it, but there was a claim a while back that the indie pick would be something more in line with The Lemon of Pink. Not sure which UK indie bands from that era would qualify in that category. Maybe a Badly Drawn Boy or something in that vein?

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Honestly stoked for whatever Clash or Ramones records they might choose, though I already have clean copies of my fave albums by each. Anybody have any clue what the indie pick might be for July? Read somewhere it's been confirmed a UK band from the early 2000s, with most of the usual suspects...

This guy is emerging as a full-blown hero here ... assuming, of course, any of this actually pans out. https://www.reddit.com/user/MichaelFigaro/

Interestingly enough, albums do still show up on the site if you search for them individually.

Also, given their proclivity for deep discounts, kinda surprised they didn't just set up a full-blown fire sale with their in-stock records rather than just take everything down. Guessing they were able to find a buyer for their warehoused stock instead. We should keep an eye out for anyone...
