The first two albums are way better, so check them out if you’re interested in good-to-great heavy rock with decent pop hooks and edgy/concious lyrics. Not really essential though, in my book.
Yep, strange choice to include this here. Hedonism and Weak from the previous two albums were huge hits also in Sweden (and both are bangers!), but this album? Nothing. Kinda boring, which is strange since Skin is a such a great front figure and singer.
Todays’ haul was significantly smaller that I first anticipated, but I’m pretty pleased anyway. Most of my wants was available but I resisted the urge on the more expensive ones. Might pick up a few more if they’re still available at my other local in the upcoming days.
Same here! And both were great in my opinion. Maybe even AOTY material! I definitely prefer this iteration of BC,NR. I dug their debut and they were great live but I just lost interest with the follow up.
So, Tracks II: The Lost Albums is apparently finally getting released with 7 complete unreleased albums. I, for one, am stoked that the 1983 LA Garage sessions finally seems to get an official release! Some real gems in those sessions like Unsatisfied Heart and Sugarland.
Also, the the lost...
All killer, no filler this week. Only new acquaintance was that Paul Simon which I’ve completely missed somehow despite being a big fan. Not quite Graceland-heights, but not that far behind. Einstürzende Neubaten, Joy Division and The Jesus and Mary Chain make for quite a triple bill here with...
While I agree that Abba is a singles-band first and foremost, they actually have a couple of pretty solid albums under their belt. This and the follow-up, ”The Album”, in particular. My favorite is the dark and more serious divorce themed ”The Visitors”. Not a weak track on that one.
My 12-year old daughter is really into Bon Jovi at the moment, which I actually encourage, logic being that I was a fan when I was in that age as well, and my music taste is pretty flawless these days as you all know. :sneaky:
This album is a great pop banger though! Not a single weak track on...
Pulp is great, but this is probably their most challenging effort. Jarvis Cocker is great lyricist but the songs here are a bit dull IMO. ”His n’hers” and ”Different Class” are more straightforward britpop (and better for it in my book). Their earlier 80s stuff has some decent moments but is...

Haven't listened to this in a long time, but K have fond memories of it from when it came out. I nearly picked it up on orange wax a few weeks ago when I saw it in the wild, but felt it was a bit too expensive at the moment (was about $50). Let’s see if I’ll regret that after relistening today.
I can’t deny the genius of Kurt Weill, although I have a hard time listening to this genre spontaneously. I love when Tom Waits dabble in the genre though. But then, he’s Tom Waits and can do whatever he wants and it turn into solid gold. (Checked and Waits has five entries in the book. Thank...
I enjoyed this more than I expected. Not really my genre (cabaret/chanson/variety type stuff is almost in the same depths of distress as prog in my book), but I liked some of the arrangements and she has a nice voice. And I was actually one of the few here who didn’t hate Divine Comedy last...
