Skunk Anansie - Post Orgasmic Chill

These were big in Britain around the turn of the millennium. I remember this coming out but don’t remember any of the songs on it looking at the titles. Had a look at their wiki and all the song titles I actually remember are from the album before this one…

Yep, strange choice to include this here. Hedonism and Weak from the previous two albums were huge hits also in Sweden (and both are bangers!), but this album? Nothing. Kinda boring, which is strange since Skin is a such a great front figure and singer.

This album had it's moments but overall I found the vocals pretty irritating. Kind of sounds likes a mix of Paramour, Muse and Ours.

Their All Music Similar Artists section lists a lot of bands that I like (Including Manic Street Preachers!), so maybe this just isn't a good entry point?

The review points to it being a change in direction for the band, so more than likely. I liked the vocals and the content. The music was weird.

Oddly enough I found the songs towards the end of the album more enjoyable than the first part. Maybe I need to check out some of the prior albums. The Related Artists were a lot of 90's alternative and post-grunge bands. I didn't get that vibe at all from this album.

The first two albums are way better, so check them out if you’re interested in good-to-great heavy rock with decent pop hooks and edgy/concious lyrics. Not really essential though, in my book.

Post grunge is about right. They were never really my vibe although the front woman skin was always cool and seemed like a great character in the NME interviews back then.

They’ve been in the music press a bit recently as they are preparing a new album and the bass player has terminal cancer. Seems like Skin is very outspoken and still a presence, especially in the metal scene.

If MTV had not existed, this record would not be mentioned anywhere. Arguably the greatest all-time beneficiary of the music video.
I almost said something about you tying it to MTV’s destruction of music.

It’s quite possible your statement is true. But I always hated their videos and I love this record. I currently only have this & Pyromania, but I like all their stuff through this album… after this… yikes…
