New Music Friday!

Wasn’t familiar with Vundabar but their album art drew me in. It’s some jangly post-punk. Worth checking out if ya dig angular echoey guitars. Checking them out on Spotify and it looks like a track from 2016, “Alien Blues” was a bit of a social media/algorithmic hit with over 650M streams so maybe some of ya are more familiar with them than I was.

Agreed. That Melissa & Theo release will be at the top of my list on Friday. Both played at Pickathon last year, have to wonder if that is where their paths first crossed? In any case, the released single is a joy:

Maaaannnnn.. This is the first .clipping LP where I'm not immediately hitting replay after my initial listen.. Granted, they had some HUGE shoes to fill after 2020's VOBBB (one of my top albums of the 20s right now), but I'm genuinely left a bit underwheled with this one. Idk, maybe it's gonna take a few more listens to warm up to me. The album did have some good moments, and the Aesop Rock feature was nice. But for now, I'd give it a 6/10. Time will tell.

I'm not huge on it either in first try. Some songs were just noise without hype.
A little less excitement heading into next month's show.

You're welcome?

I know you originally posted I just wanted to say I was into it… apologies for not directly replying to that!

I would also like to receive some credit.

I used to work in the record store, I had everything before anyone. I was there in the Paradise Garage DJ booth with Larry Levan. I was there in Jamaica during the great sound clashes. I woke up naked on the beach in Ibiza in 1988.

You’re welcome!

As a huge . clipping fan since 2014 (discovered them between Midcity and  Clppng), this is the first time I'm left underwhelmed on an initial listen.. As I said earlier, maybe it'll just take some more time.. Glad you're enjoying it so much, though!
