Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Awwww.....let's get a 'I paid for it with my hard earned money and I expect it to be perfect' in while we are at it, huh?

And for EricJ32...he got EXACTLY what he paid for. A set of records, and a slipcase. One part was damaged - the slipcase. They replaced it.

THE END! Or...Los Endos!!

Get a f....ng gold marker and write the freaking number on it, that's how they number it at the warehouse dude.

If you are so obsessive that you need someone at the warehouse, the same person who wrote the numbers on the original slipcase, to write it on for you...get help.

And don't use the 'its for a friend' line. No it isn't. That's the oldest line to justify the obssessive behavior.

this is unnecessarily aggressive, and about something that literally affects you in no way. not acceptable.

I don't think weezinwa is being over the top unreasonable complaining.... they were just stating that VMP probably isn't sending a numbered slipcase and that is disappointing, which is 100% valid. Something can be disappointing but also accepted as the only reasonable outcome. I don't see a comment where they are expecting the entire set to be replaced while they keep the original set. I think we could all agree that would be insane for a $400+ dollar box set.

I land very much in the middle that while it's not what was paid for, it's a reasonably acceptable resolution to send a new unnumbered slipcase. Does it suck that it's not numbered? Sure. Is it still great that you're actually getting a new undamaged case from a company about to go under any second? Yeah.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think RHANDMJ is poorly trying to say, just be happy that you're getting it at all as there are many people who likely aren't getting their orders. At the end of the day, the numbering on it is a minor thing compared to just not receiving the order entirely, or them not replacing the case and you're stuck with a damaged but albeit numbered one.

I think you did say it much better than me, thanks.

Sorry, but it really gets under my skin when I see the entitlement of some collectors.

They were going to send the original set back to VMP to be replaced with a new sealed one. But that causes VMP to trash a $400 set, they can't sell it again.

And I do think it is a very unreasonable expectation given, as you say, that many people will not receive things they ordered at all.

Nope. Weezinwa’s is still sealed. The only issue here is your refusal to read what they actually wrote because you feel entitled to be mad about something that’s none of your business.

got my GD anthology today- the case has a pretty big gouge. :-( all sealed and looks good otherwise- Have not opened / taken the shrink off yet in case they want it back - sent a message and pics of the damage and hoping for a more pristine product...

If, as they stated, weezinwa’s box is still sealed, then VMP could just as easily sell it to someone else as they could expect weezinwa to accept it in that condition. If weezinwa can see that the box is damaged but it’s still sealed in the plastic wrap, that means they don’t know what the condition of the records inside is and how damage they are or how damaged the sleeves are. In that situation, it’s more than reasonable to say, “can I return this unopened product for another unopened but not visibly damaged product?”.

Plaid Room routinely sells sealed, but damaged records at a discount. VMP could easily do the same with this set.

It’s not at all fair to assume that weezinwa is somehow complaining or upset about the situation just because they asked VMP what their options were in this situation.

To me it's pretty clear that they aren't happy with the situation, or they wouldn't be posting to an online record forum about it. They have any and every right to be upset, but the expectation on resolution has to be reasonable considering the state of the company. They have two "employees" and aren't responding to CS requests for weeks. This is also a company that has never done returns/exchanges of any kind, sealed or not, aside from the two aforementioned situations where there was a massive error. They issue a credit, send you new copy entirely, or send you the required replacement items that will make the sale as close to right as they can. From what I recall, in the past they have handled anthologies by replacing individual items, not replacing the entire set or offering the option to send it back.

I honestly don't see VMP correcting this any other way at their peak or at their low other than sending a new unnumbered slip case and calling it a day. It's not that it's not possible (obviously it is but VMP logistically are stupid), it's just how they have operated since I signed up in 2017. With the state of the company, I'm honestly surprised that weezinwa is even getting a replacement sleeve to begin with.

If it means that much, issue a chargeback that you received a damaged product and they refuse to replace it. It's damaged, but at least it was "free". I would also at least open the box at this point to inspect the other items since sending it back is not an option. Would hate to see the records or sleeves inside damaged and now we're back to trying to contact CS again.

Sometimes people post just to give others a heads up about issues they’re experiencing. Sometimes people post because they’re wondering if others have been in the same situation and they aren’t sure what to expect. Assuming that the only possible reason that people post on here is because they’re angry and wanting to complain is not the move.

They never made any demands, they just asked a question. It’s wild that anyone on here would try to gaslight them into thinking that that’s unreasonable.

That's completely fair, and I agree with you.

Or, in more cases, people are posting online because they are seeking validation, others who will tell them they are perfectly right and assuage any guilt ot misgivings they are feeling.

Another frequent reason is to, by expressing their anger/disappointment, they will cause the subject of their ire harm.

He did obtain a replacement (or one is on the way from VMP). It is fairly standard practice that companies will replace the damaged component, not the entire item.

Also, VMP have a very clear policy:

"Seam splits (on the jackets or internal sleeves)
Dinged or bent corners
Miscellaneous print defects and other imperfections
While a bummer to get things with minor cosmetic damages, we generally do not send full replacements for these types of issues (unless it is severe)
."

So, the death bed VMP actually went beyond for this guy in sending a replacement box, at their expense.

But regardless, he was very aware - or should have made himself aware - of the policy.

So now, as to motivation - noting that this person is a rather infrequent poster here - I can't say. The 'bought it for a friend' ploy is all too common when trying to obtain an exception and/or sympathy, or to get a group riled up to support you with the nasty company. Certainly, many collectors have a strong element of OCD and entitlement fueling their behaviors. They can't live with less that absolute cosmetic perfection.

But that is irrelevant. I agree with Roffle24 that I could have said it better. But I stand by my initial statement. Knowing full well that it is unreasonable to ask for the replacement of a $400 limited box set given that VMP's quite fair policy is that they won't do it (and BTW - VMP has no facility for scratch & dent sales, can't even do regular sales properly, and are probably heading for liquoidation). VMP handled it quite fairly.

And Ericj32 - I don't have outstanding orders with VMP. I'm out and done. But I know some people who do. VMP is obviously hanging on by a thread. I stand by my statement that I would much rather VMP try to get as many remaining titles pressed as possible rather than waste any part of what must be rapidly depleting capital on some guy's slipcase numbering issue.

We get it dude. You’re still being awfully abrasive about it. What I don’t get is why everyone is still on about it. You’ve had your say. EVERYONE IS REAL CLEAR ON YOUR POSITION HERE.

JFC apparently even on its deathbed VMP somehow has people who will swear that the consumer is somehow at fault for the company's fuck-ups.

If you have such an problem with it, maybe be upset with VMP for determining they have the resources to do this and not whatever you think they should be doing with more time? And not the person just trying to get the product they paid for?
