That's rum, sugar, lemon juice.

My favorite cocktail was a glass of nice bourbon, neat.No cachaça? And lime juice my favorite cocktail
If I was drinking drinking then that or Grand Marnier. But if it was a mixed cocktail then a caipirinha or vodka and water with an orange twist. My favorite cocktail was a glass of nice bourbon, neat.
Doesn’t the drop of water make it a cocktail? If I was drinking drinking then that or Grand Marnier. But if it was a mixed cocktail then a caipirinha or vodka and water with an orange twist.
I miss the taste. But my doctor thinks I developed an allergy to it and I'm on half a dozen meds I shouldn't drink on. I think I had a shot of whiskey in my coffee last winter once and I had a beer to celebrate when I got tenure in the spring. Don't think I've had a drink since then. Might need to do another Irish coffee this winter as a cheat treat.Doesn’t the drop of water make it a cocktail?
Occasionally, I miss alcohol. I don’t even know how I ended up in this thread.

Cachaça is rum. We call it caña here. Any sugar cane distilled alcohol is just rum. But for this concoction, it was Velho Barreiro which is my favorite cachaça.No cachaça? And lime juice my favorite cocktail
Caipiroska. Substitute rum/cachaça for vodka and it's almost the same. Not as sweet though. If I was drinking drinking then that or Grand Marnier. But if it was a mixed cocktail then a caipirinha or vodka and water with an orange twist.
It tastes a lot different than most rum though. I do like it with rum. But cachaça has a different flavor profile than most everything that we call rum here. Since that's hard to get in the states I use Bacardi silver as a substitute. But if you poured ten rums straight and one cachaça, I think everyone could pick that out as being the odd one.Cachaça is rum. We call it caña here. Any sugar cane distilled alcohol is just rum. I think the US is used to spiced rum, like Captain Morgan. Not clean rum like we do. Which is just sweet alcohol. I once tried spiced rum from the Maldives or Seychelles (can't remember which one). It has vanilla bean pods inside the bottle. Definitely not the mixing type.It tastes a lot different than most rum though. I do like it with rum. This is a really good article on the differences. They're close but typically rum is made from molasses and cachaça is made from sugar cane juice.I think the US is used to spiced rum, like Captain Morgan. Not clean rum like we do. Now I'm curious as to what we produce here then. Our sugar cane fields run deep. This is a really good article on the differences. They're close but typically rum is made from molasses and cachaça is made from sugar cane juice.
What's the Difference Between Cachaça and Rum?
Learn about the difference between Cachaça and rum. Both are sugar cane-based spirits, and while Cachaça by law must be produced in Brazil, rum can be made all over the world. We do have flavored rums and spiced rum, but they're used in a lot of overly sweet drinks to 21-29 year olds who don't like the taste of alcohol yet. But there's a ton of good rum here too. Puerto Rico makes some amazing ones for mixing or for straight sipping. If our paths ever cross the first round of caipirinhas is on me
