All those three albums are in my top 10 albums of the decade for me, and I’m so happy to see them very well ranked here for the 2015 list! 😊

None of these albums are in my top 20 albums of the 2000’s decade! One of the weakest years of that decade for sure! I feel like 2000 was such a good year and 2001 was another year where the goods kept coming, but 2002 couldn’t keep up! Still got some great albums of course, but every year has great albums.

1. The Streets - Original Pirate Material
2. Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
3. The Roots - Phrenology
4. Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People
5. Tweet - Southern Hummingbird
6. EL-P - Fantastic Damage

On the contrary super strong year for me haha! I was 19, I moved to Manchester and I adore what will be my number 1 album 😀

Pulling out a few deep cuts here...

2002:
1. Kelvin Declined - Kelvin Declined
2. System Of A Down - Steal This Album!
3. The All-American Rejects - The All-American Rejects
4. My Chemical Romance - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
5. Seether - Disclaimer
6. Korn - Untouchables
7. Breaking Benjamin - Saturate

10. Thirty Seconds To Mars - 30 Seconds To Mars

HMs:
Chevelle - Wonder What's Next
Silverchair - Diorama
Boston - Corporate America
Eminem - The Eminem Show
Def Leppard - X

The story behind that number one, and my successful quest to find a CD copy... It's a long one. I think you still can't even find the entire album online. I'll fix that at some point. Some great South African alternative rock.

4. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf

A damn fine year for me. Can't quite believe all the records I had to leave off, but also v happy to have snuck the blues of Precious Bryant in there. I saw her tour that album and it is still one of my favourite gigs.

1. Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out of Season
2. NERD - In Search Of
3. Bright Eyes - Lifted
4. Badly Drawn Boy - About a Boy
5. Solomon Burke - Don't Give Up On Me
6. Johnny Cash - American IV
7. The Roots - Phrenology
8. Flaming Lips - Yoshimi
9. Orchestra Baobab - Specialist in All Styles
10= Damien Rice - O
10= Precious Bryant - Fool Me Good

EDIT - forgot Damien Rice. QOTSA, Supergrass, Streets, Counting Crows, Hives, Kathryn Williams all would have made top 10 of some other years

Not really liking a lot of the selections that I'm seeing for this year on RYM. I can only come up with three records that will absolutely be on my Top 10 list for 2002 as of right now.

Perhaps a revisit will do me some good!

  1. Interpol
  2. Interpol
  3. Interpol
  4. Interpol
  5. Interpol
  6. Interpol
  7. Interpol
  8. Interpol
  9. Interpol
  10. Coldplay
... But seriously that Interpol album is a certified classic and is hugely inspirational to a lot of my favourite artists (Editors in particular) even if it is objectively very similar to Joy Division.
