PJ Harvey - Let England Shake (x10)
3) St. Vincent - Strange Mercy
4) Real Estate - Days

Oh jeez I actually forgot that Days came out in 2011. Let England Shake was my favorite album of that year, but over the course of the decade Days became the more meaningful album for me. So my ranking goes:

(1) Real Estate - Days
(2) PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
(3) St. Vincent - Strange Mercy

2011 is also the Katy B - On a Mission year! Talk about an album that needs to be pressed on vinyl...

Days was an album my friends and I listened to a lot when it came out but I hadn't really listened to it a lot over the last 4-5 years until I started organizing my Best of the Decade thoughts. I had forgotten how much I enjoy it.

Let England Shake is one I've bounced off of a couple of times but I should probably give another try given the praise in here.

My top 2011 picks, in no particular order:

Toro Y Moi - Underneath The Pine
Fucked Up - David Comes To Life
Panda Bear - Tomboy
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972

Real Estate - Days
Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Belong
The Stepkids - The Stepkids
Tune-Yards - WHOKILL
Big Troubles - Romantic Comedy

I feel like I haven't posted here in forever. Work's been super busy, so I haven't had time to do a proper list.

I finished college in 2011 and entered the scary world of trying to find a career. I was really starting to get into indie rock about this time, and looking at the releases, there was a lot of good stuff out there!

1. Kurt Vile - Smoke Ring for My Halo
2. TV On the Radio - Nine Types of Light
3. Destroyer - Kaputt
4. Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math. I actually really disliked this album at first. It wasn't as energetic as their first two albums, which is what drew me to them in the first place. Over time though, I've come to really like it.
5. The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient
6. Childish Gambino - Camp
7. Mutemath - Odd Soul
8. We Were Promised Jetpacks - In the Pit of the Stomach
9. Noel Gallaghers's High Flying Birds - S/T
10. Foster the People - Torches

Looking at everyone's lists, it's interesting how musically diverse 2011 is - it's a year filled with great albums, but it's also not like everyone's top 5 is exactly the same. There aren't nearly as many "obvious" picks as there are for, say, 2010 or 2012, so the lists are really all over the place, which makes it a lot more fun IMO

Forgot about this! Sneaking in there at the last! So 2011 was the absolute shittest year imaginable for me personally so music wasn’t a huge focus but 2, in particular, came out at a terrible time for me and cheered me up a little and so is probably a lot higher for me personally that it should be on merit. 3 previously would’ve been ashes and fire but fuck that guy!

1. PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
2. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
3. Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
4. Bon Iver
5. The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient
6. Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow
7. Feist - Metals
8. Horrors - Skying
9. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
10. Laura Marling - A Creature I Don’t Know

Results should be up tonight
stealing in under the gun

1. Bill Callahan - Apocalypse
2. Crooked Fingers - Breaks in the Armor
3. Wooden Birds - Two Matchsticks
4. The Head and the Heart - S/T
5. Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
6. Bon Iver - Bon Iver
