Album of The Year - Endgame

It seems I missed the last run out, oh well.

2006 was the happiest year of my life, to date, also, what a magical year for music! Sohere it goes...

6. Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
7. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones

spreddy updated!

i can't believe how much non-american, non-english music gets ignored...i suppose it's just the nature of the times, but i really feel like if 1978 was 2018, then a band as righteous as the saints woulda featured in the best of 78...

when it comes to 06, i'll be shocked if amy winehouse isn't #1 with a bullet...

some antipodean options you SHOULD consider from 2006:
  1. bluebottle kiss: doubt seeds
  2. sarah blasko: whatever the sea wants, the sea shall have
  3. augie march: moo, you bloody choir
  4. the drones: gala mill
  5. eddy current suppression ring: eddy current suppression ring
  6. gaslight radio: good heavens, mean times
  7. dappled cities: granddance
  8. kasey chambers: the carnival
  9. wolf & cub: vessels
  10. my disco: cancer
and five more for further considerations...
  1. angus and julia stone: chocolate and cigarettes (ep)
  2. gerling: 4
  3. howling bells: howling bells
  4. the sleepy jackson: personality
  5. something for kate: desert lights
if you haven't heard em, as molly would say, d'yrself a favour...

I agree with your sentiment, but non-english band at 3rd place isn't bad at least. Not everyone listed the non-english version I guess. For me that Saints album was just below my HMs fwiw. Really good album.

Damn. this is actually a pretty decent year. I had to really dig to find albums that I liked the most because this is a drastically different list than what I found by googling "best albums of 2006" that I normally do to jog my memory.

This list is extremely "Indie Rock kid in 2006"

As usual, another list that won't have any impact in the final results!

1- The Gothic Archies - The Tragic Treasury
2- Sarah Blasko - What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Havd
3- Carina Round - Slow Motion Addict
4- My Brightest Diamond - Bring Me The Workhorse
5- Regina Spektor - Begin To Hope
6- Joanna Newsom - Ys
7- Hafdís Huld - Dirty Paper Cup
8- Cerys Matthews - Never Said Goodbye
9- The Divine Comedy - Victory For The Comic Muse
10- Juana Molina - Son

Honorable mention: El Cuarteto De Nos - Raro. It's a band from Uruguay who used to make the most disrepectful music ever (they have a song about a little girl with cancer that gets pregnant from a priest who is also her father, for example). Suddenly, out of nowhere, they released this AMAZING album that is a mix of pop and rock with rapped lyrics, full of incredible rhymes. They became HUGE in Argentina after this album, and still today people dance like crazy with the singles from this album.

Edit- HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT SARAH BLASKO!!! Sorry Damien, you have to go.
