Awaken My Love was a 2016 release, wasn't it? I think it ended up on a lot of 2017 year-end lists because it came out so late in 2016

...shit, it was. I guess I confused it for a 2017 album because “Redbone” was one of the biggest hits of that year and it was nominated at the 2018 Grammys. Thanks for the reminder, I went back & updated my list!

I had RTJ3 as a 2016 release....that would absolutely make my list if we agree its 2017

Also I'm going to have to rethink my list, leaving Protomartyr off is a problem.
I have it as 2016 too

It was December 2016...I think standard procedure for most music publications these days is to push anything released in December to the subsequent year, but if I'm the only one counting it for '17, I'll happily amend:

1. The National - Sleep Well Beast
2. Richard Edwards - Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset
3. Protomartyr - Relatives in Descent
4. Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins
5. Queens of the Stone Age - Villains
6. Bonobo - Migration
7. Run the Jewels - RTJ3
7. Bodies of Water - Spear in the City
8. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN
9. Cigarettes After Sex -Cigarettes After Sex
10. Jens Lekman - Life Will See You Now
