All Things King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

I'll be at the Atlanta show in October. Really was hoping to make a Colorado trip this summer and see "family" (i.e. marathon sets at red rocks) but all my damn pothead friends missed the sale and going to just see family isn't enough of a draw, lol.

So glad I’ve continued to hold on to my Red Rocks tickets since they won’t be coming back to Texas this time.
There’s a gap inbetween NOLA and OKC, right around when Levitation would be happening. Think they will announce fest dates later as there’s a few gaps/strangler dates.

Also would expect the Murlocs at lev because I have no idea why they would fly the rest of the band in for the last gig of tour.

They have nothing schedule the weekend of Forecastle Festival in Louisville. That's usually the fest I go to every year, so it would be great if they showed up to that. Still have my tickets for Detroit in October, but wouldn't mind seeing them before then as a bonus.

That's a good point. But I will say that after seeing several bands on their own tours and seeing them headline festivals - it's almost always been better to see them on their own tour. Plus Red Rocks is still keeping the 3 hour set, which I'm still very pumped about.

Yes always. Festival sets are truncated and often have not the best sound.

Levitation isn't a typical fest from my understanding though. It's a bunch of different shows at venues across the city? Or at least that's what I thought it was, I've never attended. Either way, I'm excited for the Marathon sets as well since we were told no repeats both nights. Curious how much they switch up each night on the road outside of those shows.

More fun facts: they have released over 2 hours of new music since I purchased those tickets. It's a 3 hour set.
If they release one more album before that show, it's possible they could play an entire marathon set consisting only of music that wasn't released when the tickets were sold.

In this order:

I'm In Your Mind Fuzz
Infest The Rats' Nest
Float Along - Fill Your Lungs
Flying Microtonal Banana
Polygondwaland
Murder of the Universe
KG
LW
Paper Mache Dream Balloon
Gumboot Soup
everything else

Or just go to Bandcamp and listen to their live shows. They've got about 7 up and a few are from really recent shows.

perfect thank you!!

They're playing two shows near me and I think I want to go because it'll be a good time. The thing is, I've only listened to Nonagon Infinity and Butterfly 3000. What should I listen to to prepare? They've got quite a few albums, what are their like, top 5 that I should be familiar with? It may make listening to them less daunting
As you go through, I suggest thinking about each albums theme. I know a lot of people that only like some of KGLW. Obviously this group is going to be more into it.

But I’ve had some friends that have only heard songs from Infest The Rats Nest and Murder of the Universe. They instantly write off the band because they’ve only heard their metal side.
So I tell them to listen to Sketches of Brunswick East, Fishing for Fishies or Paper Mache Dream Balloon and see how they feel. They certainly have a sound and format that carries across most albums, but some people just don’t like certain styles that Gizz explores.

I actually think Gumboat Soup is a good starting point because they touch on more styles across a single album.

And because of their variety, if you ask 10 Gizz heads for their Top 5 Gizz albums, it’s totally possible you get 4 lists that have zero overlap, and you’ll have 10 different lists. But the list above certainly hits a lot of the consistent high points in my opinion.
