This is perfectly reasonable. The band will do what they will, we can only hope for the best. Some bands can be a band forever.
Some bands grow out of the band.
Some bands should stop being a band, but keep going anyway.
Some bands take a long break and have a great comeback.
Where will Gizz fall, time will tell.
I just hope it’s not under the category where they become bland and predictable. Just forgettable. Or the category where the band members slowly move on one by one and 1-2 original members keep it going under the same name.
I want them to be a band with a song legacy. Guys that came in, did stuff different, and always leave an impression. If they can do that for 30 more years, amazing. But if they can’t, I hope they don’t try and force it.
For fervent fans it can be a weird dichotomy though. My true obsession is Punch Brothers, I was disappointed by All Ashore, not because it was a bad album, but because it felt like they were treading water - which is slightly unfair since it was the first album they self produced - but it for sure wasn't the evolution I expected given their trajectory prior to that album. On the other hand, I can appreciate something like Sturgill Simpson's Sound & Fury which is unsuccessful, but attempts to do something brave and new.
