Anime And/Or Manga!

Has anyone watched The Fable? I'm working my way through it and while it initially seemed like it would be goofy and stupid, it's turned at moments into a far more serious drama than I expected. It would have made a great live action show.

Where are you watching? Just finished up Freiren and I really enjoyed it. I think I will star on The Apothecary Diaries next.

It's on Hulu. It's not as good as Freiren was. If you liked that you might like Delicious in Dungeon on Netflix. I felt like they both hit the same way for me. I've had The Apothecary Diaries on my watch list too. The Fable is about a hitman who is taking a year off from killing, but is involved with the Yakuza. The part I've watched up to involves a neighbor who gets forced into sex work and he gets involved in helping her. It ranges from goofy to very sad and intense looks at the human costs in the criminal world that kind of sneak up on you in the show.

My youngest is really into Sakomoto Days, so I have seen that one—which seems like a light hearted version of the Fable. My bonus daughter got us into Mob 100, which is a really fun allegory for middle school—kid buries his emotions until they explode out of him. It’s funny and bizarre given the main character has psychic powers. My daughter is hyper focused on Yugi-oh GX.

Mob's by far my favorite anime of at least the past decade.
