The Parcels - The Parcels W/ “Tieduprightnow” 7” Single
The Parcels are a bit under the radar here in the US. Their Debut feels like a throwback to the Italian discos that inspired Daft Punk’s swan song, Random Access Memories. Anyways, it’s fucking cold and snowing in April for some dumb reason and I think this made me think of a G-String bikini as opposed to G-String underwear, and one of the beachiest videos in recent memory was that of this group of Aussies spending a day at the beach surfing. Funny enough when, the band pressed their debut on wax they chose to cut two tracks from the album as opposed to just making it a 2xLP (a fact aI unfortunately didn’t realize until after I purchased it). One of those tracks, “Tieduprightnow”, is arguably their best so I ended up grabbing the 7” single too. So I am gonna watch this video on repeat in hopes that it will warm me up via its transitive properties of imagination. Also, while there are plenty of bums being shook in the video none appear to be in g strings. It still works for me.
“He left soon after dinner, but not to go home. He was curious to see Paris by night with clearer and more judicious eyes than those of other days. He bought a strapontin for the Casino and watched Josephine Baker go through her chocolate arabesques.”
“"I want some poison," she said to the druggist. She was over thirty then, still a slight woman, though thinner than usual, with cold, haughty black eyes in a face the flesh of which was strained across the temples and about the eyesockets as you imagine a lighthouse-keeper's face ought to look. "I want some poison," she said.”
The first thing that popped into my head...
If @Mather had been in the booth for this one, he would've earned his money - there's a different camera take every two seconds
Chris Whitley is someone who desperately needs vinyl releases of pretty much the entire catalog.
What an artist. What a loss. Thanks for everything...
This passage reminded me of driving through the west Texas desert at dusk and into the night. It was beautiful and eerie at the same time. I had a copy of this album on CD to keep me company and it proved a great soundtrack for the drive.

Hadn't played this in years. Forgot how good of a set this is. Love the post-punk elements that are intertwined with the electronics. Excellent guest vocalists too (King Krule, James Blake, notably).
