August '22 - N&G VINYL SPINS CHALLENGE - Don’t tell @MikeH

27. Just a Little Lovin'
The Carter Family – I Walk The Line

This is one of those albums released under a couple of different titles, so my LP and the Stupify don't match where title and art are concerned, but it's same release otherwise which features "For Lovin' Me."

28. The Sidewinder
Joe Henderson featuring Alice Coltrane – The Elements

It's kinda ridiculous but, despite loving pretty much everything of his I've heard, I have no Lee Morgan records. I did, however, finally get a sweet copy of this fantastic Joe Henderson album and Joe did happen to play on The Sidewinder so I'm going with this one for today.

I spun this today too!

I’m not sure about that there wheelhouse….
Stylistically not at all, but I feel like they fit with the subject matter in the same wheelhouse. The one is about the need of love and the other is a reply that love might not be the driving factor. So for me it's a conversation of opposing views on the same core.

27. Just a Little Lovin’

Tina Turner - Private Dancer

Tina covers this Dusty song on an earlier album, but I don't have that one. So I'm spinning this one which features What's Love Got To Do With It, that seems to be in the same wheelhouse.

Damn it! I was just about to play this album for day 27 myself but for a completely different reason lol

Whitney Houston - The Bodyguard Soundtrack

Sadly I don’t own any Dust Springfield even though “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” is one of my favorite songs of all time. I went with Whitney because in 2019 both Dusty in Memphis and “I Will Always Love You” we’re both inducted into The National Recording Registry of recordings that are that "are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States." (My original chose of Tina Turner’s “Private Dancer” was also inducted this year)

29. Ode to Joy

Chicano Batman "Invisible People"
(2020 ATO Records)
Includes the song "Moment of Joy". This is a record I learned about because @Lee Newman included it in a year-end list. The record itself is a ton of fun in its own weird way, an odd ode to joy if you will. I've kept this in regular rotation over the last few years as well, so it's had staying power.
