Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

At least they can't blame the delay on the zine again
I know delays are fairly common but I've never seen a place where most of their releases are delayed. They need to work on getting their current releases out on time before announcing new ones. I don't think that their weather station album that was supposed to be shipped by mid December has actually shipped yet because I don't see any listings on discogs for it.

The only shipping timeframes that I have seen them meet in a year or so where they didn't have LP's in hand was She & Him. I think Bright Eyes shipped closed to their estimated shipping timeframe but I still don't think it was on time.

Didn't War on Drugs ship on time?

If they can't get stuff out in a timely manner then they shouldn't put up new albums until the vinyl has been produced and the zines are finished so it wouldn't be more than a couple of weeks from the announcement to when they actually end up Shipping. If albums are delayed then they need to update it on their website. I don't want a estimated release date I want am actual release date that they can stick to.

Sadly not how it works for some company their size. They need cash flow to secure licenses for deals. Can’t just stop selling stuff for a year to catch up.

But they have no problem holding peoples money hostage for at least a year or however long it takes for them to ship their albums.

Most smaller labels and places charge ahead of time for preorders since they have already fronted the money to get the records pressed and licensing paid…it’s easy to cancel and get your money back if you don’t want to wait. I think we all know how bandbox works nowadays.

Bandbox test pressing arrived!

May be the last thing you get from them.

So based on this test pressing, bandbox announced the Luna Penthouse on 6/20 and got test pressings on 6/21. No wonder things take forever—it hadn’t even gone to press yet when they announced it.
