Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

I got the $75 gift card
Same.

Of course I always want more exclusives but it is hard to argue that Bandbox isn’t the best record club out there these days. Some people talk about customer service but they actually go above and beyond. With their discount codes and flash sales and some genuinely cool exclusives they are tough to beat. They didn’t have to provide the gift card but I am really glad they did.

I hate the RKS pressing is delayed, it’s the one I’m most excited for.

Absolutely agree. I haven't looked at the exclusives to see what I may want to splurge but $75 is so generous. I do like their books and curation, just would like more exclusives!

The Gregory Alan Isakov album remains one of my favorite vinyl club discoveries ever.

Bandbox's warehouse team was doing inventory last week and, tucked away in a corner, found a box of 40 copies of our previously sold-out exclusive pressing of Julien Baker's Turn Out the Lights!

While supplies last, the contents of said box are available now at bandboxrocks.com. But hurry, because they won't last long and after that, we must Turn Out the Lights on this beautiful release!

Haven't read through this thread but saw this deal/offer and wondered whether you all who have been involved with this club would recommend it?

For $120 for a year. It’s a no brainer. Great exclusives, good pressings and unbelievabley good customer service. My subscription doesn’t end till next March but I’m going in for another year already with this deal.

We like playing games, so here's a Wheel of Fortune-style hint at an imminent Bandbox exclusive color pressing announcement:
_ Y _
_ _ N

(Collabs with _ _ Y _ N _ _ )

Can anybody decipher this? I’m not at good at this stuff.

Beat me to it. I got nothing either here.

Yeah that's a great deal I couldn't pass up. +4 extra records on top of that price is even better.
I couldn't resist either. 16 albums for $120 and recent pressings I've gotten have been very good. Plus customer service is the tops which makes up for anything that might be lacking (like some variety, but more good stuff keeps coming!).

Thank you both; I'm going to go for it. Just to be sure I understand how this works (minus the switching choices and other such details): each subscriber receives 1 club record each month? Plus each subscriber receives a free record for every three months of membership? So 16 records as part of a 1-year subscription (which at the moment will cost $120)?

Haha! You posted this as I was typing my questions, and I guess you've answered those questions. Agreed, this would be hard to resist! :D

EDIT: Hell, this is almost as good as the old Columbia Record Club where you got something like 12 records for a penny, then had to remember to cancel the subscription before receiving a monthly release along with an invoice for much more than you wanted to pay for a single record. (This was well before a time when the record club would have your credit card on file, so at least payment wasn't automatic.....). Picked up a lot of records that way over the (long ago!) years.

I miss those days. I lucked out after forgetting to cancel and then returning them so many times that they just wouldn't automatically send me anything. Loved that.
