Bandbox: an uncompensated review of an interesting new club

So should be Tuesday when the next exclusive drops. I've been holding onto my gift card for them to all get named, but I'm definitely in for Metric and Yo La Tengo.

how did the yo la tengo jump in price from 39.99 to 45.99 in an hour? that's kinda shitty.

I like the color but I can get the black one for 27 on amazon

Our new 2xLP price is $44.99. Was an oversight that it was listed at $39.99 to begin with. Also, this hasn't even been announced yet, so we're always making last-minute changes before an album is officially announced. That will happen tomorrow.

Swapped for the Yo la tengo. Funny how this thread has gone from, I wonder what I can pick from bandbox to there are too many good choices on the horizon in a week. Well done @mapsandlegends and the team, your current slate is much more appealing than your competitors.

It's always darkest before the dawn, right?

Just this week i was emailing with Pam, who told me an Elliott Smith I had selected was sold out , and I was like...I don't even know what to replace it with. She was nice enough to say they could keep the order open in case they could source some later. Today I was able to get that one swapped to Yo La Tengo. So it pays off. It's a really great club @mapsandlegends

Gee, thanks! I’m currently focusing on brainstorming ways to make it an even better club. Any suggestions from you all here would be appreciated and I’ll do my best to implement as many as possible.

Giving subscribers at least a 24 hour notice before new releases are available to others.

Giving subscribers low stock alerts.

Pressing more albums that have never been pressed or are oop.

Using high quality inner sleeves (i.e. not paper).

Maybe having a quarterly vote for subscribers between a couple options over which one we'd like to see get pressed. Kind of like how Run Out Groove does it.

The last thing could be cool but ROG can do that because they aren’t licensing anything technically. They are an arm of Sony I think. So I could see that being extremely difficult to present options then have to license the title and put it into production

I thought of that, but no sense in not asking since it would be a cool option.

Members only sales or access to any out of stock leftovers that might be lying around.

I'll second member alerts on new releases and low stock.

Pressing details (location, mastering, etc).

My suggestion: Porno For Pyros' self titled -- they've said it's being redone (since they reformed) so I think it'd be similar to the presidents' -- they have few albums, the first album is OOP and they have a nostalgia appeal.

I would love to see more companies do this. It frosts my pumpkins whenever I get a new record that I sent 30-50 on and it's in a shitty paper sleeve. "Here's your new premium audiophile fancy-shmancy record, go spend another dollar on a sleeve and have fun cleaning it"
