Best Music đŸŽ” of 2023!

My brother sent me this one from a Finnish blog. It leans pretty heavily to americana/country/folk. There's some interesting stuff on there (how someone could have 100 favorite albums in a year is maybe another story):

Top 100 album list is crazy, I feel like I could do a top 40 possibly, but even then I am going to have 10 or so that I loved and the rest of those could be anywhere on the list in no order.

So I haven't modified this in a good week, so it's time to post it I think. Here's my weird-ass top-45 that doesn't concord with many lists. I may not try hard enough, but I like what I like.

I think our lists tend to differ wildly from the published lists for a few reasons-
  • I don’t know about you, but I ain’t a committee
  • We aren’t trying to get an algorithm/stockholders/investors to approve of our list
  • We have a more varied listening profile than even most music reviewers

Right on! I play what I like on my turntable (or in the car). Not what someone else tells me to (that said I do entertain recommendations from various sources, including people here, which do every now and then end up being something I like).
