I fully support Momma at the top but given your undying devotion to Men I Trust, I will say I was a bit surprised.

Also, I don’t know if you would buy the vinyl for your 20th best album of the year but The Black Country, New Road album sounds awesome on vinyl it’s super dynamic and made me enjoy the album more than just streaming.

There are better songs on the MiT album but overall the Momma album is much more cohesive and consistently good.

Been spending so much time in a music league with @Rip_City that I'm behind on new releases. But these 10 albums have all been some level of very enjoyable to these ears:

Tier 1:
Greentea Peng: Tell Dem It’s Sunny (rap, neo-soul, dubstep)
Heartworms: Glutton for Punishment (indie rock, post-punk)
FKA Twigs: Eusexua (hyper pop)
Darkside: Nothing (neo-psychedia, electronic)

Tier 2:
Sharon Van Etton & the Attachment Theory (singer / songwriter, indie rock)
Viagra Boys: Medicine for Horses (post-punk)
Maribou State: Hallucinating Love (neo-soul, house)
Decius: Vol 2 (Splendor and Obedience) (techno)
Circuit Des Yeux: Halo on the Inside (you tell me)
Sunflower Bean: Mortal Primetime (indie rock)

Just bought tickets to catch Sharon at the Salt Shed after finding myself disappointed by the Riot Fest lineup and being enveloped in sadness by Pitchfork's death.

Mentioning Coachella again, but I had never heard of Maribou State until I saw them at Coachella and I still need to listen to their stuff.

Love seeing Heartworms in the top tier!

Wonderful to see Circuit Des Yeux on a favorites list. It will likely be on mine as well (her record -io is one of my top10 of 2021) for now.
