My clear top two so far are Vampire Weekend and Big Thief, and the top choice changes depending on my mood. Two really strong albums. The remaining top 5 has been Nilufer Yanya - Miss Universe, Jamila Woods - Legacy Legacy, and Julia Jacklin - Crushing.

And all 5 would rank above my #1 from last year (Mitski). Been a strong year so far.

So Far, here's my Top 7 in order of release date [1/1 to 5/16] :

I don't have an organized list yet, I was planning on doing a list at the midpoint of the year. The thing that is blowing my mind this year is how diverse my list is. Normally my favs are going to be a punk or indie release, but this year has had some stuff I adore from a much wider spectrum. So far, my contenders are:

Weyes Blood
Vampire Weekend
Billie Eilish
Pile
Bad Religion
Aesop/Tobacco
Andrew Bird
PUP
Lena Raine
Millencolin
Bob Mould
Fever 333
Sundara Karma

I have a backlog ATM too, so this list is definitely going to grow. It's been a wonderful year for music, and it's only freakin May!

This year has been good to us...these are my favorites so far. Jess Ribeiro is a sleeper. Haven't heard many people talk about it and it's really great. A big step up from her debut and I thought her debut was pretty great.
  • Julia Jacklin - Crushing
  • Hand Habits - Placeholder
  • Jess Ribeiro - LOVE HATE
  • Karen O and Danger Mouse - Lux Prima
  • SASAMI - SASAMI
  • Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
  • Molly Tuttle - When You're Ready
  • Sharon Van Etten - Remind Me Tomorrow
