Stereogum has to get clicks to make money. Putting out a mid year “best of” list a month early as opposed to a month late is bound to generate more traffic.

I discovered like 5 albums I plan on listening to from this list and the comment section on that article. Definitely a good thing that they posted it. This year feels so light in releases that I've really loved so I'm eager to find anything that's gone under my radar.

I love seeing Urban Driftwood by Yasmin Williams on this list at #31 and the Parannoul at #49. Those two albums are incredibly unique individual artistic visions that deserve recognition.
