Best Music of 2021

Has anyone else looked into buying the Celeste album on vinyl? There are two editions and both of them only have 8 tracks (and are missing some of my favorites; Tonight Tonight, Strange, Stop This Flame). The red vinyl option just has a black album cover. It just seems really weird and I'm kind of bummed out about it.

Yes, saw that during my work shift. I will be getting the deluxe CD.

Yes, I've seen that too. Really weird decision by her label. I've read somewhere that the album was in the pipes for many months, but had been delayed due to Covid19 and that the deluxe-only songs shall mostly be songs she has produced in the more recent time.
I hope we see deluxe/ longer vinyl in the future, which I think is very likely given how good the album is and will wait for that.

By the way, if someone picks up the Arlo Parks album on vinyl, I'm very interested how it is soundwise?
I've read some comments on discogs that both the red and yellow vinyl seem to be bad pressings. I hope that's only the case for some of them and not all of them.

Controversial pick, but my AOTM was easily Ashnikko - Demidevil! Not the deepest record but I'm still having fun with it!

That being said I didnt spend nearly enough time with Arlo Parks and I'm probably gonna like that alot once i do
How is it a controversial pick? 🤔

Well that settles it then. One less vinyl to purchase. 😄

I bought a copy of the red vinyl. It's currently in transit. I'll report back once I give it a spin.

I listened to the yellow version last night and didn't notice any quality issues. Full disclosure: I don't have an audiophile system and my two kids were running around all stir-crazy last night while it was spinning so you might not want to take my word on it at all.

Controversial was definitely not the correct word to use but it was late I couldnt think of a better one lol. Unpopular is more like it
I have to admit I didn't know her. But looking at Spotify I see "Daisy" has about 172 million streams and "Deal with it" nearly 6 millions. So the album seems to be quite popular to me (though maybe not that much here). I'm thankful you recommended the album. :)

Admittedly I have never heard of him but like the sample size I've heard. 👍
He's most well known as guitarist for prog band Porcupine Tree and his own solo work, but he's also done a huge number of remaster/remixes of classic progrock reissues. E.g., he did all the Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, XTC, Roxy music, ELP, Hawkwind, rush, marillion, tangerine dream, tears for fears, and Gentle Giant reissues. RIYL complex difficult music with an OCD level of attention paid to detail and quality. He's also doing the black sabbath box set coming out.

Guitarist and vocalist and mastermind of PT 😉 Interestingly, he's mostly delegated the guitar work to others on his solo work, as he employs an entire band for each project. His most notable guitarist, IMO, was Guthrie Govan 👌 He's also involved with several other side projects and collaborations: No Man, Storm Corrosion, Blackfield, Bass Communion, Incredible Expanding Mindfuck, and Opeth, to name some.
