Have a lump in my throat paying for a protractor I might use once every three years or so. I don’t swap cartridges often.I use the this tool with great results
DR. FEICKERT UNIVERSAL PROTRACTOR
Who rents them?

That’s always been mine too, but your chart has me thinking…..Which is my preference.
I’ll loan you mine when I’m done using it.Have a lump in my throat paying for a protractor I might use once every three years or so. I don’t swap cartridges often.

If most of your collection is post 1990 then B may be a “better” way to go. As you can see, the Baerwald - Lofgren B has the lowest distortion levels on records that aren’t cut close to the spindle. That’s always been mine too, but your chart has me thinking…..
Thanks! I’ll be happy to hear how much of a difference it makes for you.I’ll loan you mine when I’m done using it.
What’s got me thinking is the far lower distortion with L in the midsection of the playing surface. Also, MoFi sets to L at the factory. If most of your collection is post 1990 then B may be a “better” way to go. Lifted the graph from Fremer’s review of the Rega P10.
That is what I assumed you were referring to. L is Fremer’s preferred alignment for what that’s worth. What’s got me thinking is the far lower distortion with L in the midsection of the playing surface. Also, MoFi sets to L at the factory.
Weird, considering that their own GEO-DISC is Baerwald only. Maybe they should consider marketing a MoFi TT version. They can offer it as an option with every turntable they sell for $39.99. $10 off MSRPSo MoFi chooses Loefgren over Baerwald at the factory? I guess due to the length of their tonearm.
I've used Baerwald so far, but set to Loefgren today. Using a Lyra Delos.
I cant really tell the difference, not had any issues with Baerwald.
Haven’t found this. Can you give a reference? Also, MoFi sets to L at the factory.
I read it somewhere, can’t remember where though. @AnthonyI verified it with Jon Derda, National Sales Manager at MoFi.Haven’t found this. Can you give a reference?
I see your point, but the GeoDisc dates back to the 1980s, long before the current ownership of MoFi.Weird, considering that their own GEO-DISC is Baerwald only. Ah. I bought a GeoDisc to check that my UD was correctly set up, but it was off. That explains it!I see your point, but the GeoDisc dates back to the 1980s, long before the current ownership of MoFi.

So this backs up the info that @AnthonyI got from Jon Derda."
From Greg Fitzgerald at MoFi
- set-up/alignment geometry used by MoFi for cartridges on the “+” models prior to shipping is Loefgren B. (e.g. Baerwald; Loefgren A or B; Stevenson). We also use the Dr. Feickert protractor for set-up"
Very true.I see your point, but the GeoDisc dates back to the 1980s, long before the current ownership of MoFi.
Too expensive to include something like that, but an arc protractor printed on card stock is doable.Should come with a tool that allows you to correctly set overhang, rather than trying to aim at the pivot with your eyes. Similar to Dr.Feickert's protractor.
