Cute Animal Thread

am i reading this right that you had pepper longer than you had the relationship? if so, man, that makes this extra heartbreaking. i am so sorry. I appreciate you being open and sharing your grieving with us, your attitude and positivity about a tough situation are heartwarming.

You read that right, I had Pepper prior to the relationship. It was tough letting her go and overall it’s been a roller coaster of emotions through all this. I honestly don't know where I would be if I didn't have my support system of friends and loved ones and therapy. My therapist especially has been amazing and I’m glad I started going for myself, not just the relationship at the time, a few years ago. In the end, I just hope my ex takes good care of Pepper. She’s a great dog and I’ve trained her very well, so she doesn't deserve any neglect or hardship, especially in her old age.

Last week when I was loading up the car for a weekend camping trip, a neighbor cat came down to hang, and I gave her a small bowl of water, which I left out front while we camped. Then, this morning when I got home from dropping the kids off at school, this kitten was looking for the water bowl. I sat down, and she crawled right into my lap and just purred and meowed for 20 minutes. Neighbors had never seen her before; she had no collar, and I took her in - no microchip, no spay scar, and active fleas, so the vet think she’s been out for a while, and they assured me I’m not stealing someone’s cat. Now just gotta get the dogs on board…
