Day 6: Most Interesting Color Variant - Show us those crazy color variants

I’ve got two, from two different perspectives on the color variant thing:

Hot Snakes - Jericho Sirens (limited black vinyl!!)

As part of one of my record collecting-related New Year’s resolutions earlier this year, I vowed to no longer spend more than an additional $5 or lose sleep over not getting a color variant of a record as long as the music can be obtained in any sort of pressing. The hobby was becoming less fun last year, so I’ve been more at ease and have started enjoying it again this year. The way my turntable is set up (an arrangement that is less ideal but meets the aesthetic requirements of my wife), I can’t even see the record on the turntable when it’s playing, so I have maybe five seconds to appreciate any colored vinyl when I play it.

The Hot Snakes’ last album was released on black vinyl as its initial limited Loser edition and the standard pressing is on clear vinyl, perhaps a commentary on how silly the whole color variant thing was becoming.

The Mariah Carey vinyl was released this year and I think it looks nice and festive.

Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher (Dead Oceans, 2020 VMP Exclusive Pressing)

Perfect timing as I was planning on playing this today anyway! I love the album and its the first time in a long while that I thought the colour variant was original/unique.

Wye Oak - The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs

I have variants of other albums that are more interesting/crazier than this, but I love how well the vinyl and cover complement each other here.

This was my surprise RSDBF pickup this year as Bull Moose put out a surprisingly cheap copy late and I had been looking to pick it up for a while. I was pleasantly surprised to open it to see how well the Summer Sky Wave pressing came out visually, it fits the theme well and is a very cool effect.

You, Me and Everyone We Know - Some Things Don't Wash Out

I happened to find a kickstarter very early in my record collecting days for this one. I think this was the third album I ever purchased and I didn't even have a turntable yet haha. If you supported the kickstarter, they printed your name on the insert. So this has mine and my wife's names printed in the Thank Yous of the insert which is really cool. I love this album so that makes it even better!
