Definitive Audiophile pressings

If anyone who buys this also has the 2020 BoomBoom cut, I'd be interested a comparison. I suppose Kevin Gray would be in a great position to provide one.

I of course have both! I’ll try to find some time to compare but this one sounds pretty damn awesome to me. Wish I had a dual TT setup to more easily compare 🤣

I bet but remember I just bought a €150 box set from Japan 😂
Curious what your favorite Van Morrison is? I’ve been doing a deeper dive on his catalogue and while it’s not my favorite of his, Common One has been getting really regular spins for me lately.

I kinda wish more albums went this remix route when the master tapes are too damaged to cut from. It’s really cool (when in the right hands). Haven’t heard any Steven Wilson remixes in the past but might go check some more out now

He did a good job on the Ultravox albums as well. They didn’t release them separately at first but then put them out as RSD Firsts.

It’s hard to look past astral weeks. After that probably Tupelo Honey, St. Dominic’s Preview and Veedon Fleece. I have been really enjoying No Guru, No Method, No Teacher since I got it, Into the Music is great and I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to Irish Heartbeat, I’ve had a couple of sessions in the pub Mat Molloy has in Westport.

I have a lot of his remixes. The Ultravox remixes that were already mentioned by @jamieanderson1968 are really good. I also liked the Roxy Music and the King Crimsons he did. I had the Yes boxset which were never released individually, and they were top notch too. But I bought it off of someone on Reddit for $90 and then about six months later someone on Discogs reached out after buying a different album from me and offered me $400 for it, so I sold it.

I think he's finally branching out beyond prog more often which is great because he's very much an audio perfectionist, so at least on the mix side of things his ear pulls out great stuff even if they haven't always gotten the pressing quality they deserved.

Which Roxy's did he do? Just the first album, yes? That one does sound very good.

He has a good ear for making 80's albums sound a little less 80s. I liked his Simple Minds / Sparkle in the Rain remix though wished he did early SM albums

Also Jethro Tull's Aqualung.
