Well, luckily I happen to have a KPG mastered copy of this album so I do not need to purchase this larger much more expensive KPG mastered copy of this album which is almost certainly pressed at MRP.Is it true what the comments here say?

Did a deep dive and seems the original tape was thrown out when their label folded. That’s why they had to re-record the Blister in the Sun for the movie Grosse Point Blank. See here:Is it true what the comments here say?

Original meaning safety copy made at the same time, maybe. Murky language.

Safeties are generally kept somewhere other than the master. Otherwise there’s not much of a point.

If they literally threw out the masters when they folded, I'd love to know where they kept the safety. Somebody's closet? Bottom of a dumpster?

First generation copies also tended to be sent to overseas labels to master for their presses. Perhaps tape copies were found in Europe or Japan.

Well, I broke down and preordered The Smile's new record. Reviews are rolling in for the US pressing. Guess I'm prepared for disappointment again from MRP.
