Definitive Audiophile pressings

I’m actually at the point where I prefer all of Giles’ remixes. It brings me great joy to bring this up in the Definitive Audiophile Pressings thread 😇
Yeah like there's a certain grittiness that I like in the OG mixes and the Mofis but in most cases the new stereo mixes are a more enjoyable listen, better stage and extension to my ears. Although aside from the second side fake stereo tracks the Magical Mystery Tour Mofi is freaking awesome.

Out of the four he’s done Abbey Road is the standout for me. It’s just a real jump over the mofi or any of the original stereo ones I’ve heard. I’m still unsure with Revolver and wonder if the cut and paste and all digital new method has taken something away from it. Peppers is just so different from the original stereo that it’s almost impossible to compare them. That said for Peppers or Revolver I still think my first choice is the mono.

Funnily enough the one where I’d say I prefer the original stereo, or the mofi of the original stereo, over Giles is the white album. Not that Giles’ version is bad but there’s something about that original stereo that I love. It’s also the first Beatles record where I’d grab the stereo as much, if not more, than the mono.

Do you favour the single LP

or the double LP (edit: TRIPLE)

speaking of the Rhino Devo release - I ordered my 2nd copy on the 7th and haven't gotten any shipping notification yet. I did see some other reviews on discogs say they have a similar issue with the pressing, so some bad copies are out there.

They did respond pretty fast when I contacted them about the defect - I just haven't had time to print off the shipping label and get it shipped out via UPS.

What could play fine sounded amazing - I just want to get a playable copy now.

I am happy with it but again I haven’t heard another pressing.

I really like Low-Life and Brotherhood from that rhino reissue series. But the originals of those two suffer from anemic low-end, which makes them sound a bit tinny, and the Rhinos correct that. The low-end is not an issue for originals of Power Corruption and Lies. I'd definitely try a 2009 rhino first though, because I assume the price for clean originals is not cheap. I don't like the sound of the boxset remaster of PC&L though.

Yeah, I have heard the more recent remaster is lacking. My copy was from before that apparently.
