I don't have any kids.THIS IS CALLED BREAKING THE CHAIN. SUCK IT WITCHESYour poor grandchildren…
First daughter is completely uninterested in giving those to me and I probably won’t be around if second daughter decides to bless me with them.Your poor grandchildren…
Knowing my luck, I'll inevitably be requesting replacement copies. It's not universal. But they have issues. Like I said they're good with replacements and I got good copies of everything I've bought, but having to get replacements of 3 of 6 copies ain't great.
Generally I find with the Rhino hifi series in particular that the Discogs reviews are a pretty good bellwether for issues. I'm not sure if it's just because the people buying them tend to not be playing them on Crosley's or whatnot but if the reviews mention issues, they're probably prevalent. I got off easy with this one I think. A lot of people noting big time stitching and no fill across War Pigs and Planet Caravan, and then just general noise mostly on side two. But mainly seems to be War Pigs and Caravan. With mine I can hear some tics and clicks in War Pigs but they're being drowned out by the music so it's fine. But I can hear exactly where other copies probably have the stitching, mine just didn't get that bad. But Planet Caravan being a much quieter song there are a lot of tics and pops throughout. Again, doesn't get to the point of being really awful, but it's not great on a quiet song like that. But thankfully it's not big ripping noises or really bad no fill. But again, I can certainly hear where other copies are likely much worse. This is typical Optimal though, they can do great work, they just don't seem to try particularly hard to do so.Knowing my luck, I'll inevitably be requesting replacement copies.

It was the purple VMP which also has its own noise issues in places, but that's another story. I haven't done a direct comparison yet but just going from memory on when I played it last week, the drums hit harder on the VMP but everything else is better on the Rhino. I find the Rhino is cut pretty quiet but so is the VMP. They really tamed out the volume jump on War Pigs that's big time prevalent on the VMP KPG. So that's nice. I'll do a direct comparison soon but I think the Rhino is the better of the two, but the VMP KPG is quite good. I don't think you NEED to replace it with this one if anyone is debating it.I've had better luck with Rhino HiFi (Optimal) Pressing quality than I have with UHQR Clarity Vinyl
That being said Optimal has considerably dropped in pressing quality since I'd say around 2015. What was your go to Paranoid before this new cut @Mather ? Have to you compared it to the Purple VMP??
Super vinyl? Haven’t had a problem with any of the Mofi super vinyl. It was the purple VMP which also has its own noise issues in places, but that's another story. Oh yeah and also Clarity vinyl and whatever the Mofi version of that is both suck. They're both noisy AF.
No issues with the MoFi supervinyl either here. Probably because I don’t have fancy cables.Super vinyl? Haven’t had a problem with any of the Mofi super vinyl.
Should we all chip in a buy him a new setup?Or just give up completely and start listening to his records on a suitcase Closley synched to some Bluetooth speakers. I bet he wouldn’t notice the non-fills at all then.
It's still in stock at the band's store, and 15% off in cart right nowspeaking of The Doors Rhino Hi-Fi titles, I just noticed that the unnumbered breakout copy of their debut had a recent price spike on Discogs and sure enough, it looks like that one is now out out of stock. It wouldn’t surprise me if they ended up pressing more but it’s out of stock currently.
