Definitive Audiophile pressings

Looked into it more...apparently Davis did cut both but one was at Alchemy and one was at Metropolis? It’s all very confusing hah. The earlier version of Mothership was also cut from different sources and rushed so they went back and redid it. Still seems weird that they were done the same year by the same guy but cut at different places...
The original version, or at least the set I have, was cut half speed by Stan Ricker. (SR/2 clearly in deadwax.)

So my first copy of the new Lola vs Powerman was riddled with noise and crackle, no fill... you name it. Pretty much every single GZ flaw in one sad little package. Second copy? Completely perfect. Nary a pop on the whole thing. I gotta think GZ are just overusing their stampers to FAR FAR beyond their useful capacity. Otherwise I can't figure out how they can be this consistently inconsistent across a single run of vinyl...

No @dansomeone this is not a time to be sad! This is a happy time! For I, Mather... got a good copy on my second try! It is a time to rejoice with much merriment! And my KPG Electric Warrior is also flawless. IT IS A WONDERFUL TIME IN THIS... MY KINGDOM...

-glances at pile of bad vinyl stretching to the ceiling and in definite danger of structural collapse-

Just uh... ignore that...

I was listening to Sloan's "B-Sides Win" the other day and my copy is fantastic. I thought I'd look up who did it and lo and behold, it was GZ. They have the capacity to do things right but it's so hit and miss and the misses are so far wide...

I think @Mather's is in the right ball park. I think when they have the time stampers are used as they should be, when time becomes an issue the stampers are pushed a little too far to save on time resulting in QC issues.
