Just the bestMy attorney talked to you about that. You have to stop.
As Kevin "Big Daddy" Gray's attorney and racketball partner and best friend forever I must insist that all stalking activities by one @MikeH be immediately ceased. Don't make me and "Big Rig" here take out a restraining order...My attorney talked to you about that. You have to stop.
Haha. No Oasis could ever receive audiophile treatment. There is ZERO headroom on those mixes!!Yes. But with fuck off huge amounts of digital compression added during the mix.

The Grundman remasters of Wilco (the album) and before are all really, really excellent. Ghost Is Born is the best, IMO. It is nothing short of jaw droppingly stunning. The Wilco records all sound really solid to me! They seem to be very well recorded.
It’s not much of a sonic improvement over the OG, but it’s a wonderful package. The second disc of early EP cuts is a treat, and the remaster of those tracks are a big upgrade from their originals.I'm hoping we'll get a definitive 20th anniversary edition for Turn On The Bright Lights next year. I don't remember people being too enthused about the 10th anniversary edition.
Absolutely - that is THE Oasis sound! It doesn’t work otherwise. Totally agree. My secret is that Be Here Now is my favorite record of theirs, because they fully embraced that over the top wall of guitar madness. My Big Mouth has to have like 12 guitar tracks on it!!I’ll let you in on a secret I heard the first effort at recording definitely maybe done a different studio with the instruments recorded separately to tape and with zero compression. It was on a documentary they did for one of its anniversaries It sounded fucking awful. Their first drummer, sacked soon afterwards, couldn’t keep time to a click track and they sounded neutered, nothing at all like the searing live act that had got them to that point. Recording the band live with only a few overdubs and compressing the fuck out of it actually sounds much truer to them as a live act and actually much better better too lol.

Bellman’s re-remasters () of AM, Being There, and Summerteeth I think all slightly exceed Grundman’s, but you can’t go wrong with either. Unfortunately the press on my Being There box is not impressive. It’s my favorite Wilco album, so I’ll probably try to grab another copy one day.

Maybe I’m mistaken! Didn’t Bernie do all the 180 gram remasters, think they were released around 2010 or so?Grundman or Kevin Gray?
I’ve got the Speakers Corner pressing for this one, which sounds great but I want to get this pressing because this will be the definitive pressing!KG x Impex alert

Absolutely love how the plan was to remix the album, by the time he was done with D’You Know, he was like, fuck this!I think Noel said that he couldn’t remember recording it, beyond it being ridiculous levels of fun and when he came to reevaluate it for its 20th anniversary he started remixing it to see what was there. D’You Know What I Mean had 50 guitar tracks, all of him playing the same lead part! When he stripped it back he found two orchestras and a choir in the mix that couldn’t actually be heard in the final product. After doing it he decided that although it sounded better the album was a document of its time and so left it but put the mix of that one track out on a CD in the box set and to stream. It’s really weird listening to what could have been, still massive and compressed to fuck but with a few less guitar tracks and the ability to actually hear those orchestras and that choir.
Cocaine is one hell of a drug!
Possibly! I just checked my AGIB and it's KG, though it could be a different/earlier version, too. Didn't know there had been a remaster/reissue campaign in 2010.Maybe I’m mistaken! Didn’t Bernie do all the 180 gram remasters, think they were released around 2010 or so?
My guy Kevin "Dr. Groove" Gray did the OG pressing of A Ghost is Born which is the copy I have. Doesn't seem to have been reissued. The others are done by a bunch of different people:Maybe I’m mistaken! Didn’t Bernie do all the 180 gram remasters, think they were released around 2010 or so?

Who did the Speakers Corner?
