Definitive Audiophile pressings

I’m considering purchasing one of the KG Dark Side Of the Moon 30th pressings, but I see two Discogs entries, can someone tell me what the difference is?

Thanks!

How do explain to your significant other your Christmas present you want is monthly over the next 8 months ?

Yeah I saw that after I posed the question. But to clarify, the vinyl is the same cut, one just has the extra etching in the deadwax?
That's how I'd interpret all the comments (I don't own either). One commenter says they sound identical (no clue whether he's heard both), and almost everyone is in agreement that both copies sound amazing.

The only comment suggesting a possible difference is this one, from the person who seems to know the most about the differences: "I think the rim does not qualify as variation itself, since it's a technical variation depending on the pressing machinery setup in the plant. A key difference instead i the 5821361 in runout which likely means a new manufacturing process was committed and new mothers where plated."

Anyone ever see this from USPS tracking?

"Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending"

Im waiting for that Lateef One Step and the tracking has been stuck like that for 8 days. Maybe they just didn't scan it? Or it's lost in some USPS warehouse under 5000 Amazon boxes.

Yea I get that a lot. Mine says that too. Shouldn’t be a huge issue but might wanna email to ask them about it.

Mine, too, and I already asked Craft about this. The reply from "Misty" @ Craft:
"According to tracking, it has left our facility and is at the distribution hub. It most likely is waiting on the USPS to scan it in.
I would give it a bit longer to show some movement. Sometimes the USPS can be delayed."

I got the same tracking issue. Glad I’m not the only one!

Gotta say it seems Bellman does all the great remasters of the stuff from this era that I like. Far more by Bellers than by big Kev on my shelves!
Big Bellman fan here, as well! Dunno if I could pick between him and Kev. I love Chris’ aggressiveness in his masters - he gives drums such great weight and pop without feeling bogged down. He occasionally will go just a bit too far on a vocal, at least on my system - some occasional sibilance, just a few moments of it on a record - but I’ll take the tradeoff for how hard he rocks.

Thanks!
The first one appears to not have RI markings in the deadwax, like the RTI test pressing, even though the description says it was pressed at RI. Not sure if deadwax is accurate or not. Second one is what I thought was the only version and plated at RTI and pressed at RI.

Sounds like EU & US variations, using the same master & both plated at RTI, one pressed at RTI & one at Record Industry. In exactly the same way as the KG / CB Talking heads re-issues, the EU versions are pressed at Optimal, but still have the RTI details in the runout

Is there a good, affordable pressing of Bob Marley Legend currently out there ? Thanks Kindly!

I got this one a while ago, mastered from the original tapes, it's cheap & is a double. TBH I haven't listened to it much but remember it sounding good, I'll dig it out and give it a listen.

I'm not convinced by the half speed mastering, probably not any better than this version sound wise. For Legend, you might want to have a closer look at which track versions are on the double & which are on the single LP & go with your preference, some people prefer one over the other and vice versa.

edit - I'll add the link (there is a US pressing as well)

edit 2- I think this is the only release that has the original legend single mixes & edits, the later versions (& the half speed master) just compile the album tracks. So some are edited and some are extended. It also has 2 bonus tracks that were on the original UK cassette). I'd get this one.

Really looking forward to those Bill Evans '64 and '65, missing both those titles. And Coltrane Crescent.

The Gil Evans and Ray Charles are up for preorder already on Roughtrade and Amazon. Likely elsewhere as well. Amazon is showing the Gil Evans at the usual $26.99 and Ray at $29.99.

Also, why do you all refer to KG as Boom Boom?
