Definitive Audiophile pressings

What do we think the next UHQR from Analogue Productions will be?

The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Bill Evans Trio

Who else is a likely candidate?
I think it is more likely to be The Who or another Hendrix title (AYE?). I don’t see them ever getting The Beatles and I think Zep is unlikely due to Page and two of the three living principles for Floyd cannot agree enough to get an Animals SACD out, so anything else seems just as unlikely.

Not sure what that means exactly, but I can believe that given the various factors (no doubt) at play, many things have changed.

Labels have much less power and artists much more. There is also, particularly with the Beatles, a better understanding of how much of a goldmine there is, they are notoriously hard to licence anything from, particularly when they can do it themselves.

Edit: Even if we think that AP could afford the licencing and all the personalities involved totally flipped, do we think AP would even remotely consider the costs associated with insuring those tapes for a round trip across the Atlantic and the time spent in their possession. Those things have to be almost priceless at this stage.

AP did the WYWH SACD recently and the DSOTM SACD on preorder (admittedly on preorder for a long time; although not nearly as long as the Roger Waters' 4LP 45 RPM of Amused to Death which has been on pre order for YEARS. FOR. YEARS...)

I don't see it out if the realm of possibility. Does RW need to sign off on REs? Don't the other 2 control licensing?

I'd be down to see The Who get a release. Less excited about about Zep. And I think Page would be a road block. I think he'd want to have his hand too much in it rather than just license it.

@Joe Mac pretty much nails it in his follow up to this, but MoFi was a younger company and it was a different time. The Beatles sure as hell don't need MoFi to sell a few thousand copies of their albums. They are their own machine now and realize how much those master tapes are worth. No reason for them to lend the tapes out to MoFi or anybody else. I think the same is probably the case with the Stones + Zeppelin now.

And with the stones the tapes, which were never as well curated as the Beatles, are fucked. You’re working off a transfer. Not a problem per se but mofi & AP have a mental block with digital, well unless it’s dire 🤮 straights.

Already did a UHQR! Although I'm not entirely sure the relation, if any, of this to the AP ones.
I see, although that's a 1982 MoFi. As for the next AP UHQR, just thought there's already a connection there

We need UHQR versions because these are some of the most important musical titles ever so getting the best quality versions ever into wide release is essential.

The Beatles Mono for those who missed it and a properly done new Stereo release.

And, you may know how I feel about Led Zep. Keep kicking myself for passing up those 45AAA titles because I had “perfectly good” copies. WT! was I thinking 🤔

Thanks, that was an incredibly helpful summary. 🤣
Check the Jazz thread. Another member has been in contact with Second City Prints customer service about this issue. Basically Second City is trying to organize calls with USPS management at the USPS hub, and it seems like a lot of back and forth, with no results. A lot of, "we will talk to them on Monday, I'll know more in 2 days, etc. "

I will say, that Craft/Second City has always responded to me even if it took awhile to sort things out. They tried to figure out what was happening last time and whether or not they could send me a numbered box and eventually I did get one from them. I don't think they are trying to give people the runaround, they are just dealing with USPS hah.

Didn't Michael Jackson own the rights to the Beatles records, not sure how long ago that was, but I think it's only recently that McCartney bought them back.
