And is sounds pretty great. Mono, colored wax, Obi. It feels like a Griselda release.

I didn’t order it or anything it was $60 at my local. Cheaper than the 2016 mono reissues are going for.

I have the same version of Help! and also paid about $60 for it from amoeba sf a few years ago. It sounds (and looks) great.

UK A1-B3 is absolutely amazing. Best by far. The recent grundman is really good too. Also, the corrected half speed master version is great.

If you go for the half speed master, make sure you get the corrected version. There is one version that does not sound right. The corrected version is really really good also and probably less expensive than an original UK. Don’t sleep on the recent re-issue either. It’s outstanding as well

I had eyed the half speed master but might go for the recent reissue to save some money. Didn’t realized there were two different half speeds. Do you know how to tell which is the right one? I’ll spin my current copy again soon and see if I want to try to upgrade it. Thanks!

The corrected version has a different catalog number on the spine and record label. It’s HC43453. Bad version is 33453.

There is a lemming-like cult going on for years at SHTV. Really sick. They think they are cultivating favor with their master by ripping MOFI and passing around this stupid myth of 'smiley face eq'.

Some of the pre-Music Direct MOFI's have by now been exceeded. I do think the AAA Ziggy is better, just like I don't feel a need for Beatles MOFI as the mono reissues are so good. Dark Side has been bettered - the KG cut, but even the Toshiba Pro-Use.

But I still have a few.

Yes - Close To The Edge - might be impossible to beat.
The Crusaders - Chain Reaction - yes, yes, yes...what a great band. Killer sound.
Al Jarreau - All Fly Home - yeah, it is dated, and Al is an acquired taste. But this is his best album, was a huge hit, and awesome sounding.
John Klemmer - Touch - again, an artist lagely forgotten today. This is still an awesome record, and back in the day, the MOFI was demo quality, still is. BTW - major pantie-remover.
Genesis - A Trick of the Tail - nothing before or after approaches the MOFI.
Al Stewart - Time Passages - same. Amazing.
MJQ - Live At The Lighthouse - the reason no one has taken a crack at reissuing this, one of the very best MJQ records, is the MOFI.
Steely Dan - Katy Lied - this is one the Huff lemmings bash the most, because it is one of the best. A challenging record to do, considering the screwup in recording, but the MOFI back in the first vinyl era was huge - and it is my favorite Dan record.

I have the Rhino from RSD a long time ago. It does sound great but my copy is really noisy. No idea if that’s common or not. I’ve had an order for the MFSL from Music Direct for awhile now too so hopefully that gets fulfilled at some point.
 
So this is more to offer a bit more insight to the 2016 Pink Floyd remasters, specifically in this case DSOTM. So some of you know I ventured into SACD's recently and I've been wanting, reluctantly, to pick up a MoFI pressing of Dark Side, but the reviews are a bit mixed, the price leaves a little to be desired and I like the 2016 pressings. So we opted for the SACD of it as a point of comparison since the SACD seems to be well regarded.

For starters, big difference between SACD and CD, especially if they're well done. The SACD sounds amazing.............but. I still think I like my 2016 pressing a little more. The SACD does bring out the mids more, has slightly more detail (This may change my mind over time) and again, will make your ears smile. My comparison actually boils down to a bit of personal preferences, much like phono cartridges, the SACD seems a bit bright to me, not harsh in any way, but definitely not as warm. The bass is definitely more defined in the SACD as well. Overall though, I kind of like the warmer, fuller sound of my 2016 pressing. Bottom line, both well worth the investment, and I honestly have no itch to go track down a MoFi unless it literally falls in my lap. I'm still glad I added the SACD to the system though, you can bring some pretty amazing options to the table for those hard to find, overpriced items on your want list ;)

Circling around and back on topic, I still give a big thumbs up to the 2016 remasters, but I'll add, I don't listen to a lot of CDs so it might grow on me over time. Again, nothing to dislike about the SACD at all.

You need a good, quiet copy of the 30th anniversary pressing and you will retire everything else. (I have an original first press UK, US, MoFi vinyl & cd, 30th, 2011, 2016, black triangle CD, old & new SACDs and a few other odds and ends, marbles and scarves inclusive.)

Again, if I happen to trip over one at a decent price I would pick it up. I'm really trying not to obsess over "the best" pressing and end up with 10 copies of the same album, not that there is anything wrong with that. I still honestly think too much personal preference falls into all of this, pressings and gear alike.

That being said, it's been on my list next to the MoFi for a while ;)
 
I actually just picked up a 2016 DSOTM and already have a 1973 Canadian Harvest pressing. Will post my impressions when I get a chance to do a proper A/B. I'd prefer a KPG, but considering how well regarded the 2016's are and the fact that they are very affordable, I picked up a 2016 for now.
 
Was planning to wait to get the Acoustic Sounds pressing, but I picked up a boomboom mono Speakers Corner cut of Ella & Louis on ebay last week for $25. It is excellent.

Son of Schmilsson already arrived too. Haven't had a chance to spin yet but no seam splits--woohoo!
